"I want to ignore the version of Deadpool that we saw in Wolverine and just start over again. Reboot it. Because this guy talks, obviously, and to muzzle him would be insane.

I don't see it as a problem that Ryan [Reynolds] is also playing Green Lantern. I mean, look at Harrison Ford - he was in Stars Wars and Indiana Jones at the same time and everyone was fine with that. Green Lantern could not be more different to Wade Wilson. Green Lantern is a guy who finds a ring and is thrust into this world, much like Spider-Man. Wade Wilson is a guy who unfortunately gets cancer, and volunteers for a test that will give him healing powers. He is a bad ass, a wise-cracking mercenary, who will go out and kill anyone for money. But the thing about him is that, underneath it all, and he wouldn't want you to know this, sometimes he's not such a bad ass after all. Sometimes he does the right thing.

It's going to be a dark, snarky, very funny movie. It's the hardest story to tell, I think. There's no clear cut villain - though you do have great baddies from the comic-books like Black Tom, Slayback, Blind Al and the Weasel. Blind Al is this blind woman in his house, who he abuses and mocks… it's terrible. But you find out that she was a convict who did something terrible and he saved her from execution. So he lets her live in his house and she looks after him, but they both torture each other. Anyway, there are good stories and we're figuring out which ones to incorporate.

We're right in the thick of talking to writers right now, and hopefully by November we'll have decided who's going to do it. We need someone really imaginative because we want to do some really innovative, ambitious stuff. Ryan's mentioned this in an interview already but there are parts where he's going to break the fourth wall and talk directly to the audience in the cinema. We have to work out how to do that. I don't know that Fox will agree with all our decisions, but we'll see!"

20th Century Fox is making progress with its "X-Men" spinoff, "Deadpool," and has tapped "Zombieland" scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to pen the screenplay.

Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role as the wisecracking mercenary he portrayed in last year's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

There is no timetable on the Marvel property, though Reynolds has a window after wrapping the "Green Lantern" this summer.

Reynolds has been bulking up to play the DC Comics' hero "Green Lantern," which starts lensing next month. This means he would already be in superhero shape if the script for "Deadpool" is ready by summer.

Reese and Wernick, who wrote "Zombieland," will stay true to the mythology of "Deadpool" given that Reynolds is a huge fan and protector of the property.

The tone of "Deadpool," which features an antihero as opposed to the more traditional heroic comicbook protagonist, is very similar in tone to "Zombieland."

Lauren Shuler Donner is producing "Deadpool."

Reese and Wernick, high school friends who began collaborating in 2001, most recently sold the pitch "Earth vs. Moon" to Universal Pictures. The pair penned a draft of "Venom" for Sony/Marvel.

Kult-Regisseur Robert Rodriguez soll das X-Men-Spin-Off "Deadpool" inszenieren. Zuletzt spielte Ryan Reynolds ("Selbst ist die Braut") den Charakter in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine"

Wie The Playlist und Produktion Weekly übereinstimmend berichten, hat Fox Robert Rodriguez ("From Dusk till Dawn") den Regie-Posten für das Spin-Off "Deadpool" angeboten. Inwiefern dieses Engagement sich auf die seit Jahren heiß erwartete "Sin City"-Fortsetzung auswirken würde, ist noch nicht klar.

Das Drehbuch zu "Deadpool" wurde von den "Zombieland"-Autoren Rhett Reese und Paul Wernick bereits geschrieben. Rodriguez würde dieses Projekt wohl nach seinem weiteren "Spy Kids"-Film, "Spy Kids 4" antreten. Ob Ryan Reynolds wieder den Hauptcharakter spielen wird, ist noch nicht sicher.

Ryan Reynolds hat sich in einem Interview zu "Deadpool" geäußert. Glaubt man seinen Aussagen, könnte auch gut ein anderer Schauspieler den Comic-Charakter geben.

In "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" hat Ryan Reynolds den Deadpool schon einmal gespielt und eigentlich ging man davon aus, dass er auch in dem eigenen Film seines Charakters zu sehen sein wird. Doch nachdem der Schauspieler beinahe wöchentlich neue Rollen annimmt, oder zumindest mit mehreren in Verbindung gebracht wird, kommen langsam Zweifel auf. Auch gibt es Probleme, da der gewünschte Regisseur Robert Rodriguez momentan noch bis zu sechs andere Projekte (z.B. "Spy Kids 4") am Laufen hat. Nun überrascht Reynolds in dem Interview mit TotalFilm mit folgender Aussage: "Die beiden Filme ["Wolverine und "Deadpool"] haben absolut keine Verbindung zueinander." Was bedeutet, dass Fox im Ernstfall auch gleich einen neuen Schauspieler casten könnte. Das Studio Warner versucht hingegen, Reynolds so an sich zu binden, dass er "Green Lantern 2" vor "Deadpool" machen wird.

Der Darsteller scheint sich allerdings immernoch auf das Projekt zu freuen und lässt die Fans auf eine originaltreue Verfilmung hoffen: "Ich kann nicht genug betonen, wie nahe der Ton des Comics verfolgt wird. Aber es ist vor allem ein ziemlich böses Werk, und das zählt. Das Drehbuch wird etwas härter als der Comic. Wenn ich ein Rating nennen müsste, wären die Comics PG-13 (ab 13 Jahren) und das Drehbuch befindet sich momentan auf der Gratwanderung zwischen dem und dem R-Rating (ab 17)."

Die zeitlich engen Terminpläne von Robert Rodriguez und Ryan Reynolds machen "Deadpool"-Fans schon seit einiger Zeit größere Sorgen. Nun sieht es so aus, als müsse Rodriguez seinen Posten für einen schwedischen Debütanten räumen.

Für das Spin-Off von "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" ist nun, laut LA Times, der schwedische Werbefilmer Adam Berg der Favorit. Dieser konnte durch den Kurzfilm "Carousel" auf sich aufmerksam machen. "Deadpool" wäre sein Debüt auf der großen Bühne.

Die "Zombieland"-Autoren Rhett Reese und Paul Wernick schreiben das Drehbuch mit der Unterstützung von Ryan Reynolds. Robert Rodriguez' aktuelles Projekt ist "Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World", das im August 2011 in die amerikanischen Kinos kommt. Auch danach ist sein Terminplan scheinbar so gefüllt, dass ein Engagement bei "Deadpool" nicht mehr möglich ist.

Fox Has Shot 8 Minutes of Deadpool Test Footage?

Bleeding Cool pointed out that Rob Liefeld and Scott Lobdell talked about the upcoming Deadpool movie at the Amazing Arizona Comic Con last weekend and Liefeld had some very interesting things to say:

"They've got a great director on the movie, they've got a great script. I may or may have not seen some sort of test of footage that would blow your mind if you saw it and go holy crap and that's Deadpool in costume. Katana swords, guns, shooting people’s faces off and making me laugh. And I may or may not have seen something that looks just like that. And you've got what would amount to the first R Rated X-Men movie. Because that script is R Rated.

They may or may not have wanted to shoot eight minutes to see how it would play. And all I can tell you, it's close. It’s closer that it's even been to going, or going Naaah, that's too scary a proposition to make a R Rated Deadpool movie.”
