IGN schrieb:
Dark Souls 3's incredible world and awe-inspiring weapon arts make it the fiercest installment yet.

ausgamers.com schrieb:
If you're into Dark Souls games, I can tell you right now that Dark Souls 3 will probably be your game of the year. It's exactly what you want from a Dark Souls game. It's a lot of Dark Souls with a touch of Bloodborne, a dash of Dark Souls II and a hint of Demon's Souls. It's, admittedly, not a lot of anything new. But it's brilliant nonetheless.

pcgamer.com schrieb:
Sprawling level design, thrilling combat, and masterful indirect storytelling make Dark Souls 3 the best Dark Souls yet.

Gamestar schrieb:

WCCFtech schrieb:
Dark Souls III is beautiful and terrifying all in one. Intense, atmospheric and so cruel. An essential game for RPG fans and one of the very best games of 2016 thus far.

Gamespot schrieb:
The late-game hours of Dark Souls III seem not to erupt, but fade slowly into the fog

thejimquisition.com schrieb:
No game series comes close to doing what Dark Souls does, and Dark Souls III has done it again.

It’s an undead favorite.

hardcoregamer.com schrieb:
Dark Souls III is shorter than what we’ve come to expect, but it’s also more consolidated to give players exactly what they’re looking for without any unnecessary fluff.

destructoid.com schrieb:
If Dark Souls III truly is the last game for now, it makes perfect sense, since it's just as much of a love letter to fans as it is a culmination of the series. I may not have liked this iteration as much as the rest, but it's still streets ahead of most current action games and deserves a warm spot on your shelf by the bonfire.

gameplanet schrieb:
Dark Souls III nails much of what made the first two in the series so special, but its world and enemies are unusually drab.

attackofthefanboy.com schrieb:
Those seeking something wholly new will be disappointed, but if you want more of the Dark Souls gameplay that you love, this is exactly what you’ve been asking for.

rpgsite.net schrieb:
For now at least, it is time to bid farewell to this franchise, and Dark Souls 3 is as wonderful a send off as any we could have hoped for.

Fein.

Even individual areas lack the intricacies seen in the various shortcuts and labyrinthine pathways found in other chapters. There are a few moments of brilliance, that much can’t be denied, but the complex architecture that made my jaw drop in From’s other productions just isn’t there.

Hm. :I

In so many important ways — its world design, its pacing, the technology powering it — Dark Souls 3 falls short of the mark. Do you play for the joy and stress of exploring dangerous, intricately crafted places full of hidden elements and endless side paths? Then I suspect you'll join me in being a little let down with the direction this sequel has gone in.

Destructoid ebenfalls:
The environments are par for the course, which isn't exactly ideal as From Software typically sets that baseline. The "united" feel of this iteration goes slightly too far in that every zone feels overly familiar, with many of them touting a standard castle-like appearance, that, while appropriately seeped in lore, isn't as memorable as past iconic hotspots. Whereas previous Souls games had you embarking on an adventure where you would never know what could come up next, nothing here, and I mean nothing, surprised me

"This solid sense of space and geography elevates Dark Souls 3’s level design beyond the relatively weak blueprint of Dark Souls 2, making a mostly triumphant return to the kind of large-scale, world-focused journey of Dark Souls 1." (IGN)

"Dark Souls III is Hidetaka Miyazaki's final Masterpiece. It evolves the basics and mechanics of the Souls saga until it reaches pure perfection and offers brilliant level design, more variety of enemies, deep character customization, and some of the most epic boss battles we've seen in the last 7 years of the Souls saga" (meristation)

"But it is pretty in its darkness. While the green swampy areas look bland and almost ugly in places, the castles and world design yet again show the team understand scale and structure like few others do. After beating the second boss you walk out into the open and see the future: where you’ll visit, where you’ll die, over and over. The locations are typical, sure, but they are interlinked in such a clever way, and that may be Miyazaki’s true genius. Returning to an area that’s somehow anew because of how you discovered it, or visiting locations that resemble others: that never gets old." (godisageek)

Liegt dann wohl irgendwo dazwischen:

Not as surprising as Demon’s Souls, not as timeless as Dark Souls, not as consistent as Dark Souls 2 and not as focused as Bloodborne. But still, Dark Souls 3 is a dyed in the wool Souls game. A gorgeously crafted culmination of design, fantasy and interactivity. And that’s what counts.
