MOVIE Tenet (26.08.20)

True to the director’s style, the first teaser gives almost nothing away in terms of plot, but prominently featured star John David Washington (BlacKkKlansman) throughout its brief runtime.

Two title cards flashed during the teaser as well, the first reading “Time has come for a new protagonist,” with the second reading “Time has come for a new kind of mission.” Though the film takes some inspiration from the James Bond franchise, it’s being speculated that there could be an element of time-travel, hinted at through the text and the circular, clock-like motion of the film’s title, which was displayed briefly near the end.

The MPA has given a PG-13 rating to a Tenet prologue that will soon be hitting theaters. Described as “Short Subject,” the prologue was given the rating for “violence and intense action.”

Fans of Christopher Nolan will not be surprised, as the filmmaker has screened extended sequences of his previous movies in IMAX theaters before other films. While it’s not confirmed the Tenet prologue is coming only to IMAX, we have to assume that is the case here as well. We also don’t know which movie it will be attached to, but it could be Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker on December 20.
