aber dieses rumreiten auf alten marken geht mir mal ordentlich auf den sack... friday 13th, halloween, predator, nightmare on elmstreet und jez noch alien.... pfff... der einzige lichtblick darin is das remake vom wolfman.

Hat er sich beim Zeichnen schon gedanken drüber gemacht, warum und wieso das Alien so eine Kopfform hat, und warum es diese Höhrner auf dem Rücken hat und erklärt das in dem Buch?

Oder erzählt er nur was darüber, welche Einflüße aus dem Alltag in die Zeichnungen eingeflossen sind?

Ich hab jetzt keinen Vergleich zu einer englischen Version aber da H.R.Giger Schweizer ist würde mich nicht wundern wenn das Buch sogar ursprünglich in deutsch geschrieben/angelegt wurde.

Als absoluter Giger Fan hab ich natürlich auch noch seine weiteren Artbooks und in Verbindung mit dem Alien Artbook kann man gut die Einflüsse aus einigen seiner anderen Werke erkennen. Vieles von ihm geht ja schon stark ins Pornografische und der Alien-Kopf kommt auch in einem seiner früheren Werke (vor Alien) vor und da ist der innere Mund des Aliens z.B. noch ein Penis.

Ridley Scott's Alien Prequel Will Be 3D

With all of the announcements of upcoming movies being planned for 3D over the next few years, one would expect that whether or not an upcoming tentpole movie will be in 3D is going to replace the "PG-13 vs. R" question that most filmmakers tend to get. The latest movie that seems to be going that route is Ridley Scott and 20th Century Fox's planned Alien Prequel.

UK sci-fi site Shadow Locked had a chance to talk with art director Roger Christian who worked on Star Wars and Alien, and they asked him about the direction Scott might take with a prequel, the two of them having worked together on the original movie. Besides dropping the fact that it will be shot in 3D, he hinted at a possible trilogy in the franchise's future.

He told them: "Ridley's doing the next Alien in 3D. Ridley told me some of his ideas when we were here in Toronto. He has a very clear understanding of where this should go. They kind of stopped dead one of the greatest horror franchises there's ever been, and it had legs to go on. So I'm hoping he'll revive another three. The world certainly wants it, and the fans want it - everybody."

Christian met with Scott, but hasn't confirmed that he might be involved with the new prequel, reuniting the duo for the first time in over 30 years.

Ridley Scott Dishes Alien Prequel Details

Now that Ridley Scott is on the press circuit to talk about Robin Hood, Alien prequel talk is resurfacing. And it's no longer just a pipe dream. Scott says it's happening - a visual palette is being designed, concept art is being hashed out and a script is being finalized. But what's it about? Here are excerpts from MTV's interview.

"It's set in 2085, about 30 years before Sigourney [Weaver's character Ellen Ripley]. It's fundamentally about going out to find out 'Who the hell was that Space Jockey?' The guy who was sitting in the chair in the alien vehicle — there was a giant fellow sitting in a seat on what looked to be either a piece of technology or an astronomer's chair ... Our man [Tom Skerritt as Captain Dallas] climbs up and says "There's been an explosion in his chest from the inside out — what was that?" I'm basically explaining who that Space Jockey — we call him the Space Jockey — I'm explaining who the space jockeys were ... [The film] is about the discussion of terraforming — taking planets and planetoids and balls of earth and trying to terraform, seed them with the possibilities of future life."

Scott says he'll be approaching H.R. Giger to talk creature designs in an effort to create something new because he feels, "The alien in a sense, as a shape, is worn out." Very interesting.

Dark Horse Comics explored the whole "Space Jockey" story long ago.

Also, sources tell ShockTillYouDrop.com that by the time the Fox Alien Anthology Blu-Ray set comes along at the end of this year, we could very well see a "sneak peek" of Scott's Alien prequel!

Vulture hat neue Informationen zu Ridley Scotts "Alien"-Prequel, das angeblich den Titel "Paradise" tragen soll. Noch überraschender ist jedoch die Erwägung, eine der Hauptfiguren komplett vom Computer generieren zu lassen.

Bisher ließ uns Ridley Scott mit Informationen zum "Alien"-Prequel noch ziemlich im Dunkeln. Nur Gerüchte um mögliche Kandidatinnen für die weibliche Hauptrolle und dass der Space Jockey, bei dem es sich eigentlich um einen Anzug handelt, aus dem ersten Teil eine Rolle spielen wird, sind bisher durchgesickert. Nun möchte Vultures neue, deutlich konkretere Informationen in Erfahrung gebracht haben. So soll der Titel des neuen "Alien"-Films "Paradise" lauten und mehr oder weniger ein Reboot des Franchises werden.

Wie im Original, jedoch 30 Jahre zuvor, soll sich die Handlung um eine isolierte Gruppe von Raumfahrern drehen, die sich plötzlich Angesicht zu Angesicht mit dem säurehaltigen Biest wiederfinden und fortan nach und nach dezimiert werden. Weitaus origineller ist da die Idee, eine Hauptfigur des Films per CGI zu rendern und dieser mit Hilfe des Motion-Capture-Verfahrens Leben einzuhauchen. Noch immer wird nach einer passenden weiblichen Hauptdarstellerin gesucht, die mittlerweile auf den Namen Elizabeth Shaw hört. Bisher fielen da Namen wie Olivia Wilde ("Tron: Legacy"), Gemma Arterton ("Prince Of Persia - Der Sand der Zeit"), Noomi Rapace ("Verblendung"), Carey Mulligan ("Wall Street") und Natalie Portman ("Black Swan"), mit denen sich Scott auch teilweise schon getroffen hat. Neu im Cast ist Michelle Yeoh ("Sunshine"), die jedoch für eine wichtige Nebenrolle im Gespräch ist. Auch mit dem Deutsch-Iren Michael Fassbender ("Inglourious Basterds") wurde bereits verhandelt, er soll eine ältere Version des Androiden Bishop (Lance Henriksen) spielen. Scott soll aber schon wieder Abstand von der Idee genommen haben, da er die Gagenforderungen der Agenten des Schauspielers für zu hoch hält.

Diese Information sind jedoch mit Vorsicht zu genießen, was nun womöglich den ein oder anderen Fan der Reihe aufatmen lässt, denn zugegebenermaßen klingen sowohl Titel als auch Plot nicht wirklich viel versprechend. Die Produktionsfirma 20th Century Fox meldete über Twitter, dass derzeit einiges an fehlerhaften Informationen über einen kommenden Scott-Film im Umlauf ist, nannte jedoch weder einen Titel, noch auf welche Gerüchte sich bezogen wird. Eine gewisse Skepsis ist also gerechtfertigt, denn "Paradise" wird aller Wahrscheinlichkeit nach das nächste Projekt des Regisseurs.

Die Vorgeschichte des "Alien"-Prequels ist auf zwei Filme aufgeteilt, die mit aktuellster 3D-Technik inszeniert werden sollen. Bisher hat Scott noch kein grünes Licht bekommen, da er sich mit den Produzenten noch nicht über das Budget einigen konnte. Der Kinostart ist jedoch weiterhin für 2012 angesetzt, die kürzlich kursierenden Gerüchte zu einer Verzögerung der Produktion, wurden bereits offiziell negiert.

Ridley Scott’s ‘Alien’ Prequel Morphs Into ‘Prometheus,’ Starring Noomi Rapace

Big news on the Alien prequel front: it seems as if there is no longer an Alien prequel. What started out as a film expanding the backstory of Ridley Scott‘s 1979 sci-fi-thriller-monster movie masterpiece has become something else.

Today 20th Century Fox has officially announced Prometheus, which will star Noomi Rapace as Elizabeth Shaw, and open on March 9, 2012. What’s going on here? More after the break.

Deadline reports that the film once meant to be an Alien prequel has become something “more original,” and that the Jon Spaihts draft that kicked things off has been reworked by Damon Lindelof and Ridley Scott into Prometheus. In addition to the part being played by Noomi Rapace (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) there is another big female role in the film, which is being circled by Charlize Theron and Angelina Jolie. Three major male roles have to be cast, too.

Here’s what Ridley scott has to say about the film:

While Alien was indeed the jumping off point for this project, out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place. The keen fan will recognize strands of Alien’s DNA, so to speak, but the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative. I couldn’t be more pleased to have found the singular tale I’d been searching for, and finally return to this genre that’s so close to my heart.

My first reaction: this is awesome. I love Alien to death, and was cautiously warming up to the idea of a prequel. But I would so much rather see an original film from Ridley Scott and Damon Lindelof. And when Fox is the studio that gets so much flak for aiming squarely at the lowest common denominator, seeing them give a writer and director the reins like this is beautiful. An original, big sci-fi film rather than another sequel/prequel/remake? Well done, Fox.

Damon Lindelof seems to agree:

In a world flooded with prequels, sequels and reboots, I was incredibly struck by just how original Ridley’s vision was for this movie. It’s daring, visceral and hopefully, the last thing anyone expects.
