REP/MONEY
- Winning a GREEN race gives you more REP and MONEY than coming in 2nd in a YELLOW race.
The only time doesn't is if there are 5 opponents in the yellow race, then its equal. If you're having trouble with difficulty, race those green races!
- Always finish a race unless you have no other choice.
Finishing gives you REP (and money, if you're above 4th), gives you more experience to unlock visual parts, and its been said that the game only adjusts your difficulty if you finish.
So if you keep restarting a race in the middle until you win, the difficulty will climb higher and higher.
But, if you lose about as often as you win, the difficulty will either stay the same or decrease.
Restarting in the middle of a race hurts you in many ways.
- DELIVERY is a great way to make money.
They are fairly short races that give you more money than a normal race.
- PAYBACK is the best way to make both MONEY and REP, if you finish it.
All you have to do is figure out the path that the AI take and make sure you don't lose them.
Start with the EASY paybacks and move up from there.
- ONLINE gives you REP/MONEY when you finish a race, but its about a third (or so) of what you get in career.
Arcade also gives you REP/MONEY, but not as much as career.
ABILITIES
EMP - As I said and Gunner said, this is *the* ability to use. If you're trailing slightly behind a guy and can't catch him, this will put you in the lead.
If the AI's catching up to you or just passing you, this will slow them all down (not just one)
Zone, Agro, Roar are all decent for doing what they do.
Zone can help you avoid traffic, but in doing so you lose lots of speed.
And its not going to help you catch AI that are just ahead of you in better cars.
AGRO requires some good timing and aim.
Again, if you're behind the AI with no means to catch them, AGRO is pointless.
ROAR doesn't seem to affect the AI at all, so unless you're very good at timing it so ROAR sends traffic into the AI, its not much worth to you either.
CAMERAS
If you want to be competitive, I'd suggest not using the Action camera (its the default the game ships with).
It sways too much, and the camera angle when you hit nitrous (right next to the car) doesn't really give you a good view ahead of you.
Its very cinematic, but not very functional. I use the static or classic cameras.
STEERING SENSITIVITY
If you pause the game and hit R1 twice, you get to the options tab.
In the game options, there is a 'steering sensitivity' setting.
I usually set this so my steering isn't quite as sensitive as the default, it helps immensely.
For those of you with twitchy fingers who constantly oversteer and lose speed, this can help you win a lot more races.
CAMERA SHAKE
Much like changing steering sensitivity, turning this option "OFF" can drastically improve your vision and make it much easier to avoid traffic.
Try it out if you're having a tough time.
DIFFICULTY COLORS
People seem to really be stuck on the idea that if they upgrade, the opponents shouldn't upgrade and the game should be easier.
Guess what? They really don't.
When you get the mission to race Nikolai for his Camaro, or race Annie or Karol in an A class car, they are in those cars no matter what you upgrade to.
I can only assume that you're talking about the non-story people you see driving around the streets.
When you upgrade, that GREEN guy gets to easy, so he's no longer an option.
That YELLOW guy turns GREEN.
That ORANGE guy turns YELLOW.
That RED guy turns ORANGE.
That leaves a space for a new RED guy, who they put in the game.
See how it works?
Actually, most of the time people just go away when you upgrade and new people spawn, but the point is that the game always gives you a range of difficulties to choose from.
The option to choose an easy or hard race shouldn't be taken away just because you got a new car, or changed the performance of your current car.
VEHICLES
Want to know what the best vehicle is? Go test drive it in the showroom.
Every car and bike, whether its locked or not, is open for a test drive from the first time you enter the garage.
POLICE
- I've found the best way to lose the police is go around the same block a few times.
I don't try to outrun them because they're usually as fast as I am.
Just go around the block until they're far enough behind, then duck into an alley or another street.
Stay out of their line of sight and you'll lose them.
If you don't mind having the police chase you, its a good time to go look for collectables and learn the city.
- If you really don't like running into police on your way to another event or race, the best way to avoid it is to enter the race editor and drive to your destination with no traffic and no damage.
Alternatively, when you're in the race editor, you can hit BACK/SELECT to go to LAYOUT MODE and fly to your destination as well.
Its much faster than driving. When you get there, hit BACK/SELECT again to put your car on the ground, then exit the race editor.
- You can go online to get out of a cop chase.
Just go to the online menu, hit "QUICK CRUISE", and pay the (small) fine.
Its faster than losing the cops, and costs a lot less than a 10 minute chase that ends with you getting busted and sent to the police station.
Once you've entered the online cruise, you can exit and continue on with your career.
UNLOCKING & CAREER
- If you want to get to the end of career and beat the city champ, make sure you do all missions involving BOOKE and ANDREW.
- If you are looking for a type champ (tuner, exotic, muscle, luxury, motorcycle), you have to beat the city champ and have 35 wins using that type of vehicle. Once you do that, they will spawn.
- Cars and performance parts unlock based on your rank, and in the following order, about every 15-25 races (Depends on if you win or lose):
Group 1, Performance level 1
Group 2 vehicles
Group 1, Performance level 2
Group 2, Performance level 1
Group 3 vehicles
Group 2, Performance level 2
Group 3, Performance level 1
Group 4 vehicles
Group 3, Performance level 2
Group 4, Performance level 1
Group 4, Performance level 2
- If you want more visual parts (bumpers, spoilers, side skirts, etc...) unlocked for a certain vehicle type (muscle, tuner, exotic, etc..) then just race that type.
There is a bar in the GPS that shows when you'll unlock the next visual parts.
PHOTO MODE
Press start to pause the game, then move the right analog stick.
There you go, you're in photo mode

Das erste was mir auffiel, ist das es überhaupt nicht leicht ist, andauernd verfahre ich mich oder baue einen Unfall, der mich wieder zurück wirft. Auch sind die Gegner verdammt hartnäckig.
