Do you feel that chill running up your spine, Vault Hunter? It must be the call of Bloody Harvest, a completely free seasonal event for Borderlands 3 running from October 24 to December 5. Feast your eyes on the ghosts and ghouls you'll be fighting during Bloody Harvest in our new trailer above.

In addition to all the Bloody Harvest info that debuted during the first episode of The Borderlands Show, we'd like to share some more details about how this event will function once it's live. To participate, you'll need to have progressed far enough in the story campaign to have unlocked Sanctuary III, which happens early on. While Bloody Harvest is active, you'll notice a peculiar newcomer aboard your ship: Maurice, a surprisingly friendly Saurian who can speak to you via a device of Tannis' own invention. As Borderlands 3 Creative Director Paul Sage explained during The Borderlands Show, "Maurice is your guide to all of [Borderlands 3's] seasonal events."

GOING TO HECK
When Bloody Harvest begins, Maurice will offer you a repeatable mission that must be completed in order to reach Heck, the spooky setting for Borderlands 3's Bloody Harvest. Maurice kindly asks that you collect a certain amount of Hecktoplasm, an item that drops from slain Haunted enemies. You'll encounter Haunted enemies all over the galaxy during Bloody Harvest; you'll know them by their ghostly green glow. Once you've collected enough Hecktoplasm, Maurice will open a portal to Heck aboard Sanctuary III that will transport you to the creepy domain of Captain Haunt and his undead minions.

Once you've managed to stop shaking in your boots at the sheer spookiness of Heck, you'll have to fight your way through an undead army of Maliwan soldiers who are rising from their graves with ambitions of revenge. You'll also encounter freaky fauna including flying, fire-breathing Rakk-o'-Lanterns and wretched Ratch that've gorged themselves on blood. Deep within the depths of Heck lies Captain Haunt, the bony final boss of Bloody Harvest.

COLLECTING NEW GEAR AND COSMETICS
Your enemies in Heck have a chance to drop gear that will only be available during Bloody Harvest, including Fearmonger, a new Legendary shotgun that packs a supernatural punch. You might also find Anointed weapons that play off the new Terror mechanic introduced in Bloody Harvest. Haunted enemies can inflict the Terror debuff, which will affect your aim and partially cloud your vision—but with these new Anointed effects, you can turn Terror into a beneficial boost of power.

There's also a set of seasonal cosmetic items which won't drop in Heck, but are still exclusive to the Bloody Harvest event. During the event, you have the chance to earn a skin for each of the four Vault Hunters (which also apply to Moze's mech Iron Bear and Fl4K’s pets), a seasonal ECHO Device Skin, a shrunken head Weapon Trinket, and finally a ghostly Global Weapon Skin, all of which you can check out in the trailer up top.

To unlock these items, you'll need to complete a new set of Challenges that are exclusive to Bloody Harvest. Progress towards completing these Challenges is tracked automatically, and each cosmetic item is unlocked via completing a certain number of these Challenges.

We can't wait for you to visit Heck and take on Captain Haunt when Bloody Harvest begins on October 24. Until then, do your best to steel yourself for the terrifying trials that await you.

Diese Woche sollte ja eigentlich auch noch das Annointed-Event starten. Keine Ahnung, ob das auch noch kommt oder ob es ersetzt wurde.

Those are a lot of notes to take in, and we're still hard at work addressing reported issues in Borderlands 3. But given that we're just about a month out from Borderlands 3's launch, we'd like to take this opportunity to outline our plans for future updates, including some of the community's most frequently requested changes. There can always be unforeseen challenges when working on patches and hotfixes, so we'll keep you posted on more concrete release timings as these updates continue to progress. Here's a look at some of the things we're working to implement in future patches.

PERFORMANCE AND STABILITY
  • Game performance and stability continue to be our top priorities. The first fruits of that labor will be released in our upcoming November patch, with various improvements game-wide. We've also been hard at work improving the game's stability and more improvements in this regard are expected to be included in the November patch. Performance and stability will continue to be an ongoing effort with more fixes rolled out with each upcoming patch.
THE BANK
  • Expanding the bank has been the most consistently requested feature by the community. We've heard you loud and clear and the groundwork for expanding the bank has already started. The first of several planned expansions will coincide with the release of Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite. Expect a significant bank expansion that will more than double the existing space. Additional expansions to the bank will continue to be rolled out over future releases.
DEDICATED LOOT POOLS FOR BOSSES
  • Several of you have stated a desire to find gear more easily in the game. To do that we are updating the loot pools (the data that determines what in-game items drop) to ensure that more specific gear drops from bosses. That means you'll be able to go to a specific boss to get the specific gear you're looking for. We're working out which bosses get which gear right now and expect this to be ready as part of the November patch as well.
CHARACTER BUFFS
  • In the late stages of the game when Mayhem Mode is active, we've found that player companions (Moze's Iron Bear, FL4K's pets, and Zane's Digi-Clone/SNTL) are reportedly not performing as well as we had expected. To address this, we're looking at how to adjust damage according to the relevant skills and gear. The goal here is to make sure we have as many viable character builds as possible.
ADDITIONAL MAYHEM LEVELS AND MAYHEM 2.0
  • Mayhem Mode has been a fantastic addition to the Borderlands world. After receiving some great community feedback, we've been hard at work on a significant revamp that will introduce a host of improvements over several upcoming updates.

  • The first update will be released as part of the Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite and includes the first new Mayhem Mode level, Mayhem 4. Expect a significant challenge when it debuts, with tougher enemies that reward players with highly synergized character builds. A new batch of Legendary gear will also only drop while in Mayhem 4 to reward those players who are truly up for the challenge.

  • Longer term we have plans to overhaul Mayhem Mode with more UI support, new Mayhem Modifiers that change gameplay more dramatically, Mayhem playlists, new rewards, and additional levels of Mayhem to work through. We're excited about Mayhem 2.0 and we'll talk more about it when we get a little closer to its release.
VENDING MACHINES
  • Marcus heard the outcry for more vending machines, so we're airdropping in some more across multiple maps. Expect new ammo and health vending machines outside of a few boss arenas and a few in some of the bigger environments. Below are the locations where the new vending machines will be appearing:
    • Athenas
    • Atlas HQ
    • Skywell-27
    • Lectra City
    • Jakobs Estate
    • Voracious Canopy
    • Tazendeer Ruins
    • The Pyre of Stars
SKIPPABLE CINEMATICS
  • We're currently investigating the best way to approach letting players skip cutscenes. This is much easier said than done. Under the hood, the game may activate critical events based on cinematics. In order to make sure mission progression isn't negatively impacted, we need to inspect each cinematic and make sure those events still work correctly. We have a few ideas on how to tackle this problem and expect to have a solution soon.
TARGET DUMMY
  • Need an easier way to test your gear? We're going to add a target dummy to the shooting range on Sanctuary III! We feel this is the best location since your bank is also on the ship. This way you can manage and test your builds on Sanctuary III without having to travel anywhere else. You can expect to see this sometime in December.
THE FUTURE
  • The list above is only a high-level look at what some of our teams are working on. Stay tuned as we continue to add more information and additions to this list. We here at Gearbox are excited about where Borderlands 3 is heading, and we look forward to showing you all the content that's still to come!

The Borderlands Show episode 2 is in the books, and if you missed the livestream on the official Borderlands Twitch channel, you can catch a VOD of the full episode above. Our regular hosts Greg Miller and Fran Mirabella from Kinda Funny were joined by Head of Gearbox Story Group Randy Varnell to dig into some spoiler-heavy discussions of Borderlands 3's story, take a first look at the free Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite endgame content, and reveal a SHiFT code for the Spooky Surprise closing out the Borderlands Anniversary Celebration.

We know you like free stuff, so we'll cut right to the chase with that Spooky Surprise SHiFT code. Redeem the time-limited SHiFT code below to claim four creepy Vault Hunter Heads, one for each Vault Hunter, that'll definitely strike terror into the hearts of your enemies—and in the case of Moze's horrifying clown mask, might make them pee a little.

K9W3T-BJZ59-B9SHB-6B3JT-T9CFF
Hurry and redeem this SHiFT code here on Borderlands.com, on the Gearbox SHiFT site, or via the in-game Social menu in Borderlands 3 before it deactivates on November 5 at 12:00 AM PT*!

Once you've claimed your Vault Hunter Heads, it's time to talk Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite. Like the ongoing Bloody Harvest event, Takedowns are more free content being added to Borderlands 3, but unlike the seasonal events which are only available for a limited time, Takedowns are permanent additions that you can take on when you feel you're ready. The only prerequisite to tackling a Takedown is completing the main story campaign, but it's strongly recommended that you first take your Vault Hunter all the way to level 50 and collect plenty of Legendary gear to hone your preferred build.

If you've fought your way through Borderlands 3's campaign, you already know how doggedly the Maliwan corporation wants you dead. With its seemingly infinite army of soldiers outfitted with highly advanced tech, Maliwan's forces pose a threat not just to you and your fellow Vault Hunters, but the galaxy at large. Lorelai helped lead the charge against Maliwan's troops during their attempted hostile takeover of the Atlas corporation on Promethea, and she's wary that they might come back to try and finish the job. In order to stave off another potential invasion, she's asking you to take the fight directly to Maliwan with a preemptive strike on one of their most secure, highly guarded facilities. It sounds like a suicide mission, but you've survived plenty of those before. Enter the Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite.

As Randy Varnell stated during The Borderlands Show, Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite is "designed to be a four-player co-op mission at level 50," and the enemies there will all scale to that level by default. You have the option to attempt this Takedown solo, but don't be surprised if you don't even make it past Maliwan's first line of defense. Fortunately, Public Matchmaking will be an option for Takedowns, so even if you don't run with a dedicated crew of Vault Hunters, you can team up with matchmade strangers and venture into the Takedown's brutal test of skill.

Unlike the rank-and-file infantry you've blasted before, only the most elite Maliwan soldiers have been stationed to guard Maliwan's Blacksite. You'll encounter tons of SpecOps Maliwan squads on this all-new map, plus three incredibly tough boss fights. Randy alluded to some of the new Maliwan mercenaries awaiting your arrival, like Riot Troopers whose shields absorb elemental damage that can be directed back at you, and Stealth Troopers who can fully cloak as if they've carefully studied FL4K's Fade Away Action Skill. You'll encounter even more enemy variants if you've got what it takes to brave the Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite on True Vault Hunter Mode. The Borderlands Show also gave you a quick glimpse of Wotan The Invincible, a mechanical behemoth of a boss that fires missile barrages from behind its massive shields.

Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite is some of the most challenging Borderlands 3 content yet, but the potential rewards are worth the risk. You can score all kinds of loot in the Takedown that you won't find anywhere else, including some of the best shields in the game and even exclusive Vault Hunter Head and Skin options. Takedowns are tuned for about 30-45 minutes of nonstop action. "[They're] probably a little bit longer than the Proving Grounds right now, but not too long," Randy explained on The Borderlands Show. "We still like that you can come play a session, then either replay it or take a break and come back tomorrow. It's designed to be replayable content."

Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite will be coming to Borderlands 3 on November 21, so you've got some time to prepare your best builds and start strategizing with a group of like-minded Vault Hunters who are up to the task. We'll have more to share about the Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite in the coming weeks, so be sure to check back on Borderlands.com—and you can catch the next episode of The Borderlands Show during the week of November 18 for even more reveals and in-depth Borderlands discussion.

- Raid-like.
