MULTI Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

It’s too brief a time to get a complete sense of the game’s overall quality, but it is certainly enough to say this with confidence: If I was excited about a new Star Wars single-player game before I played, I walked away with far greater confidence that Respawn has captured a very real slice of the magic that defines the beloved series.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order went from being a game that I was cautiously optimistic about to a game I know I’m going to play to one hundred percent completion - and likely - one that I’ll be championing when those heated “Game of the Year” debates start springing up in a few months. I’m really hoping the full game is as deeply rewarding and fun as the chunk I’ve played so far. We’ll know for sure when it releases on November 15th. But for now, there’s hope.

Fallen Order is a remix of past third-person action successes. It's polished, it's fun, it's challenging, and it's presented with a whole lot of style. From my three hours with it, it seems like a rock-solid game. But don't expect to see any new ideas—just old ideas executed with panache. Sometimes that's all you want, though.

While it’s certainly a departure from the running-and-gunning seen in DICE’s Battlefront series, Jedi: Fallen Order is a bonafide Star Wars game through and through, one that (I’m sure) fans will be ecstatic to get their hands on. Not unlike how Disney is remaining mum on The Rise of Skywalker‘s plot, I have a distinct feeling that Respawn has plenty of surprises and secrets in store for us, and with a November 15th release date, we won’t have to wait long to find out. Personally, my money’s on a final showdown with Darth Vader himself.
