MOVIE Metallica! S&M² am 6. September

Now That We're Dead:Killer riffs, subdued pace,tribal galloping drums, has groove Iommi styled guitars, harmonious, Dio-esque melody in the bridge, lush instrumental "legit" drums, has a simple structure, could be a new fan favorite(Emphasized in multiple reviews). More "traditional" metal, likened to "Enter Sandman" and "Black Album" but with more force and thrash, speeds up near the end. Catchy but not too pop-ish. Lyric snippet: "Now that we're dead, my dear we can be together"

Dream No More: Unexpected vocals from James, gloomy, slow groove intro, he harmonizes on the track, fat mid-tempo song, likened to "Sad But True", lyrics include "You turn to stone!", mid-tempo song, its a "tough monster" lyrics are Cthulu influenced. Brutally heavy with some lines sounding disoriented. Lyric snippet: "Cthulu awaken!, Wake, dreaming no more" (Hetfield sounds like a monster here) "You turn to stone, cannot look away!" "You turn to stone- madness, they say Cthulu awaken"

Halo On Fire: A "One" like ballad, epic, emotionally charged. opens with clear (assuming this means clean) vocals, no gruffness. The speed picks up in the latter half of the track as it also gets heavier, thick grooves, pounding drums and guitars. Has more intricate sections, twists and turns than any other song on the album. The opening riff is melodic and soft. Incredibly simple chorus, very powerful and catchy. Lyrical snippet "Hello darkness, say goodbye" "Oh, halo on fire, the midnight knows it well"

Confusion: Bombastic riffs, fast and confusing, marching drums, likened to "Disposable Heroes" and "Death Magnetic", the lyrics also deal with war, post traumatic stress disorder. The song is a grower. Older "vintage"styled riffs, also likened to "Am I Evil". Kirk's solo's are similar to his work on "...And Justice for All". Lyrical snippet: "Leave the battlefield/coming home from war", "Confusion, all sanity is now beyond me. My life, the war that never ends" "Coming home, pieces do not fit anymore. Make it go away, please make it go away."

ManUnKind: Rob Trujillo has writing credits on this track. Riff compared to Iron Maiden with a bassline intro that's similar to "Load/Reload" in a good way (Their words). "Challenge for air drummers" (also their words) the song is in an odd time signature.Compared to "Black Album" and "...And Justice for All",many starts and stops. more progressive but also compared to "Load/Reload" with a hard-rock groove(Load/Reload influence is mentioned in most articles), "The God That Failed" along with "My friend Misery" is also mentioned. There are clean guitars, a lot going on in this song.Heavy and "chunky", jazz like, staccato riffs, solo rhythmically trickled, likened to "Rage Against the Machine", a very special song. About mankind's cruel nature being measured Lyrical snippet: "I've become hostage to my mind, I've left myself behind, faith in manUNkind!"

Here Comes Revenge:Riff reminiscent of "Harvester of Sorrow" but with a new style, an anthem, mid tempo, changing dynamics, pre chorus also reminiscent of "Leper Messiah". Very biblical, "Cain and Abel, Eye for an Eye, Forgiveness and Revenge" are lyrical themes, likened to "Black Album" and "AJFA", the speed picks up at some point in the song and is reminiscent of early Metallica, James' vocal style is aggressive, also has a great solo!. Lyrical snippet: "You ask for forgiveness/I always ask for revenge" "He was Abel, I was Cain" "Here comes revenge, just for you. Revenge you can not undo"

Am I Savage: really heavy track, clean and slow intro, thick groove blues influenced, likened to Black Sabbath in one article, also considered to be "Metallica at their most melodic" from another article, no dramatic twists and "uncomplicated", Lyrical snippet: "Am I savage? Scratching at the door. I don't recognize you anymore"

Murder One: Tribute to Lemmy, has Motorhead titles for its lyrics, mid tempo song, could've been done by Motorhead and Metallica (I guess this means it sounds like a collaboration musically). Lots of riffs,mid tempo song. Lyrical snippet: "The man in black, Born to lose" "Aces wild, aces high, all the aces till you die", "murder all, murder one, gimme murder, second class to none" "Till the end, finished living to win"

Spit Out the Bone: Machine gun drums, likened to 'Damage Inc' and 'Battery', closes the album the same way 'Hardwired' opened. Uptempo speed metal, a youthful sounding James. Theme is about the extinction of Mankind by machines.Breakneck guitar solos, likened to "Kill Em All" era Metallica and "Metal Militia", Kirk and James harmonize vocals. Lyrical snippet: "Finally cure the earth of man. Exterminate, speeding up the revolution. Long live machine, the future supreme. Man overthrown, Spit Out the Bone".
