"As it turns out, yes there are indeed plans to introduce multiplayer into Just Cause 2 as Downloadable Content, but it is currently in the very early stages, as I found out. While the 8v8 Team-based (capture the HQ styled) “Stronghold Takeover” mode is pretty fun, it sadly lacked the grapple and parachute as you don’t get to play as Rico! Instead, the “Stronghold Takeover” mode allows you to choose between the enemy grunts, or one of the three factions. Asking one of the developers (who was playing against me) why there was no grapple or parachute in these modes, they gave a pretty obvious answer saying “well, only Rico has that. It would be a bit strange if suddenly everyone (the faction members or grunts) is able to grapple or use the parachute”.
There are also two more modes, one of which is a Race mode. I’m not sure exactly what they have planned for this, but from what I experienced, the Race mode will be split into the three vehicle types – Air, Land and Sea –I got to test the sports cars around the “test” track on the “race track island”. It’s not just an Easter egg as it turns out! It seems they’ve been planning this for some time. According to one of the developers, they plan on including routes within the countryside and even in the city… and of course there will also be air races and on the water too. Finally - and this has to be one of my favourites – there will also be a co-op mode with some new missions being introduced. As a requirement, you will need to have completed the story mode before “unlocking” co-op, as it follows on from the story. Not to go into too much detail, but you and your partner can choose between Rico and Kane, and yes… this does mean you get to use the grappling hook and the parachute. Even better, Kane is also fitted with the attachment and has an unlimited supply of chutes too. Though I only got to play through the first co-op mission, you go once again straight into the action as chaos has erupted in the streets while each of the faction leaders attempt to rule the island. You are immediately given a choice as to which faction you want to aid, inevitably giving you the ability to play out three different endings.
I was really pleased to see this as a potential addon, but they couldn't confirm as to when we might see it being released to the public or how much it will cost. The reason is obvious; if you thought Just Cause 2 alone was glitchy, try adding up to 18 players... but hopefully they will be able to work out all the kinks soon"
Kommt wohl nen MP per dlc.
