Bleibt Cesc Fabregas beim FC Arsenal oder wechselt er wieder zurück zu seinem Jugendverein FC Barcelona?

PETER HILL-WOOD last night told Barcelona to get a move on or lose out on Cesc Fabregas.

Arsenal want the saga wrapped up by Monday with Hill-Wood admitting for the first time officially that the club will sell if the offer is right.

“They have been messing about for a year and a half now and they have got to make up their minds,” said Hill-Wood.

“The ball is in their court. They have made one bid of around £26m and another rather tentative one.

“If they want to buy the player they are going to have to pay the right price – and when you look at what is being paid elsewhere I don’t think what we are asking is at all unreasonable.”

Asked whether the time was approaching when the north Londoners would call off talks, Hill-Wood added: “We are getting close to that.”

Hill-Wood also confirmed the Gunners were actively looking to boost their squad adding: “We are trying to buy a few players but it isn’t going to happen overnight.”

He confirmed one of the targets was Everton centre-back Phil Jagielka, who has been the subject of a reported £10m bid.

The Merseysides are understood to be willing to accept an offer of around £17m. “We have made a bid for him but they didn’t think it was enough,” Hill-Wood said. “It is very busy but nothing is actually happening.”

Starsport understands another player the club are looking to lure to the Emirates is playmaker Edin Hazard, who plays for Lille – the club Arsenal raided to snap up striker-winger Gervinho for £11m.

But Nicklas Bendtner is on the way out of the Gunners, with the Danish striker on the verge of sealing a £9m move to Sporting Lisbon.

Wenger allowed Bendtner to miss the Gunners’ trip to Germany to sort out his future and now the 23 year-old is close to finalising a move to Portuguese side Sporting, with the formalities expected to be completed over the weekend.
