Arrowhead beantwortet FAQs:
Wiped progression? Don’t turn off your controller!
There is currently an issue with players experiencing wiped save data. We found an issue related to the controller dropping its connection to the game and then when you reconnect, the game spawns your avatar before it manages to load your old save. This results in what looks like lost progress, and often results in progress being lost if you let the game finish its save.
What we are doing about it: We have fixed this specific occurrence and are investigating other ways that save data might get reset as we are seeing reports of unrelated save reset issues. The fix for this specific issue will be in patch 1.03.
What you can do about it: Make sure your controller has a full charge when you start playing. Don’t switch controllers if you battery is running low, just connect it to a cable, and wait until you are on the bridge and done with saving before switching to another controller.
If this issue should occur, restarting the game without saving will cause it to try and download the cloud save next time you start it up. This may solve the issue, but will not work if you have managed to save since you got reset.
I can’t find my friends’ games!
This is a very frustrating issue for many as Helldivers is primarily a co-op game and you really want to play with your friends. This is more common when trying to find friends on other platforms than your own, such as between PS4 and PS3. It comes from the fact that we are pioneering cross-play functionality and it is very much a learning experience.
What we are doing about it: We are looking at improving the discovery for friends, especially cross-platform. This is unfortunately not an easy fix and will take a while for us to sort out. I’m very sorry for the inconvenience and we thank you for your patience.
What you can do about it: Setting your matchmaking filters to closely match what your friend is currently playing seems to increase the likelihood of them showing up. You can also both try to find the same public game and both join it.
My save won’t transfer between my PS4/ PS3/ PS Vita!
This is due to the cloud save timing out before we manage to save to it. It manifests as you not seeing your progress on other machines when you start up Helldivers there.
What are we doing about it: In patch 1.02 we are increasing the timeout to improve the chances of getting a response from PSN while it is under heavy load. This should help alleviate the problem a bit but is not a final fix. For a more permanent fix we are working on improved error handling and looking at network connectivity.
What you can do about it: Unfortunately there isn’t much you can do at the moment. Do note however, that the save data sync is not handled until you enter the bridge. Meaning that even though the game shows you tutorials and everything, your save still might be perfectly synced.
I can’t fire full auto and some weapons won’t fire at all!
This is caused by faulty DS4 controllers that don’t register full inputs, and the fact that we use a high threshold for full auto on weapons. This is to make it possible for players to fire single shots as well as full auto on the same button. This also seems to be affecting sprint in some cases.
What we are doing about it: We are implementing an option that multiplies all analogue outputs of the controller as to simulate a properly functioning controller. This should help anyone with a faulty controller to play the game better, but will have the downside of providing less precision in movement and fire.
What you can do about it: Exchange your DS4 controller for another without the input issues.
The game says I was kicked during mission start or mission end!
There seems to be some network instability when the missions start (right before you drop down) and when they end (where you are presented with XP and unlocks). It also tells you that you were kicked, but this isn’t really true.
What we are doing about it: We have a fix in progress that will make sure that you at least receive the XP and samples you have earned, as well as giving you a proper disconnect message. We are also looking at why disconnects are happening in these two places and what we can do about it, but a fix for that is likely to take longer.
What you can do about it: Report any specific conditions that might cause this. Were you doing anything specific in all of the cases where you are disconnected? What platform were you on? Etc. Be as detailed as possible.
I got kicked right before we extracted and now I get nothing!
We know people are jerks, and we implemented a reputation system for that exact reason. Unfortunately jerks are very creative and it is hard to enter the mind of the jerk when you are a nice person.
What we are doing about it: We are looking at what’s being abused, and discussing options on what to do about it. We hope to fix the most abusive situations and improve the playing experience.
What you can do about it: Be nice, commend each other! No seriously, every commend counteracts a report, if people are awesome to play with, make sure to commend them before you leave.
I can only find full games!
People are playing a lot of Helldivers and often in full games, they currently show up in the matchmaking and block out viable games from the matchmaking list.
What we are doing about it: We have a fix incoming in 1.03. This was just a mistake on our part, sorry!
What you can do about it: Tighten your search criteria, that should increase the amount of games you get and hopefully one of them has open slots.
The galactic campaign is not moving, what’s going on?!
Everyone is fighting hard, but it is currently an enormous uphill battle. We balanced the galactic campaign based on guesstimates and data from the mini campaign we ran with the journalists. We were slightly off the mark though.

What we are doing about it: We are monitoring the campaign and balancing it continuously. We will make sure that the community has a fair chance of winning the campaign.
What you can do about it: Just keep playing and enjoying the game!
I unlocked a new weapon but I can’t find it!
It is not immediately apparent, but the weapons are sorted by class. You can see other weapons in the same class by scrolling to the right when selecting primary weapon.
What we are doing about it: Informing you that this is the case

What you can do about it: Select the weapon you want and rock and roll!
