Das Mini-Labor "Philae" steht mittlerweile stabil auf dem Komet. Zuvor hatte das Landegrät Probleme sich an der Oberfläche des Kometen festzusetzen.

Gibt ja ein paar richtig coole Bilder vom Kemeten aus nächster Nähe mit einer Auflösung von 2,x Meter/Pixel. Ich erwäge gerade, ob ich eines oder ein paar davon auf Aludibond kaschieren lassen und die in mein Arbeitszimmer hängen soll. Mal Abwarten was noch kommt. Vielleicht ja auch eine 3er Serie: Mond, Mars, P67.

Rosetta’s Plasma Consortium (RPC) has uncovered a mysterious ‘song’ that Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko is singing into space. The comet seems to be emitting a ‘song’ in the form of oscillations in the magnetic field in the comet’s environment. It is being sung at 40-50 millihertz, far below human hearing, which typically picks up sound between 20 Hz and 20 kHz. To make the music audible to the human ear, the frequencies have been increased in this recording.

Liegt wohl auf der Seite. Hat insgesamt drei mal aufgesetzt. Und bekommt viel weniger Sonnenlicht ab als eingeplant.

Jump 2: velocity 0.019 m/s - height 3 m
- Confirms again that Philae touched down twice.
- First jump 1h50m. Probably up to 1km height and 1 km distance traveled.
- Initial touchdown location is known, but site of the 2nd landing is still unclear. "We still don't know where we are now."
- This morning connection with Rosetta was re-established. Science info collected over the night was received.
- Team working on how to cope with the "non-nominal position".
- Philea receiving 1 - 2 hours sunlight, instead of the 6 - 7 that was calculated for. "Unfortunately this is not a situation we were hoping for."
