:grins:

The Greatest Video Game Music 2 Coming November 6th

The London Philharmonic Orchestra has recorded 17 covers of famous songs from gaming. They're going to release them on November 6th in a compilation called The Greatest Video Game Music 2.

The album features tracks from both old and new games. Chrono Trigger's main theme and "One-Winged Angel" from Final Fantasy 7 are sure to be the biggest crowd-pleasers. However, I'm intrigued by the mention of a "Still Alive" cover.

Here's the full list of songs covered by the orchestra:

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations – Main Theme
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Far Horizons
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker – Dragon Roost Island
Final Fantasy VII – One-Winged Angel
Mass Effect 3 – A Future for the Krogan/An End Once And For All
Halo – Never Forget/Peril
Sonic the Hedgehog – A Symphonic Suite
Chrono Trigger – Main Theme
Luigi’s Mansion – Main Theme
Kingdom Hearts – Fate of the Unknown
Super Metroid – A Symphonic Poem
Diablo III – Overture
Batman: Arkham City – Main Theme
Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Icarus Main Theme
Fez – Adventure
Portal – Still Alive
Little Big Planet – Orb Of Dreamers (The Cosmic Imagisphere)

Mirrors Edge/Dear Esther-Designer will "Stalker"-ähnliches Spiel ohne Waffen entwickeln

Speaking to Joe Martin, the artist behind the fabulously-pretty island of Dear Esther, Robert Briscoe, has announced he’s embarking on a one-man project of formidable ambition. Here’s the quote: “I fancy doing something on my own, something entirely of my own creation. Dear Esther was a great project…[but] this time around? I’ve always had this idea in my head of this sort of open-world, STALKER-like game without weapons. With a horror aspect to it. I’ve never had the opportunity to it because the scope of it is so huge…I can’t even believe I’m contemplating doing it! It’s so unreal…but this is the whole thing with me: I want to see if it’s possible for just one person to make a game on a scale that’s probably never been done before…”

Pier Solar HD Kickstarted

Pier Solar, the plucky Sega Genesis fan project, may be coming to HD platforms in December 2013. WaterMelon Co. has created a Kickstarter project that will allow it to create an HD version of the game for Xbox 360 and PC/Mac/Linux.

The game is a love letter to the era of 16-bit RPGs, and stars a young man on a quest to save his father from a mysterious illness. As these things do, the quest soon becomes far more epic, and the creators state that the game lasts for over fifty hours. The various Kickstarter backer tiers include options such as a digital copy of the game for $15, a physical version for $49, and a collector's edition for $125.

Klasse Atmosphäre. Ich warte nur darauf, dass irgendwann ein großer Entwickler mal ein Splinter Cell-inspiriertes Ego-Stealthspiel für Konsolen macht. :ruby:

Saints Row und Co. bald bei UbiSoft?

“What happened to [THQ] is something that happens regularly when we have transition,” he said. “Some can make it, some decide to go in different direction. It happened with Atari and Midway and also Acclaim last generation. … It’s something that happens in this industry and that’s the way the industry consolidates.”

Guillemot said Ubisoft is open for discussions on acquiring some of THQ’s IPs, but he declined to say which franchises the firm was most interested in acquiring.

“They have good things,” he said. “We are always interested in good brands. For sure, it’s something we can consider, but I can’t tell you more.”
