The AI are generally very good at taking cover, some very cool things I saw included shooting at them with a SCAR-H, they instantly hit the floor and started crawling backwards away from the fire, although from such range they didn't know where I was.
Smoke is gorgeous, only had a chance to fire a few 105mm's so far, but the effects are beautiful, especially at night, and the best thing is that the AI cannot see through it. From Howitzers and stuff the smoke stays for about 30 seconds or so yes.
Marines are fairly epic although Sgt.Hunter sounds a bit pre-pubescent. Not much of a fan of the SCAR and it's all you get for the first 2 missions but the weapons look and feel A LOT better than on any videos so far.
The AI is plenty aggressive, especially if you're running away form them, they may lose sight of you but they will pursue you effectively and take you out one at a time.
I didn't get to play multiplayer, but I tried, so have a few answers. This was on Xbox 360 by the way... CO-OP is 4 players throughout the campaign and the single missions. PVP is 8 Players but you can choose what squad you would like to be in and the majority is made up by bots.
There are some instances of that not working e.g. standing out in the open for me to shoot them when they're already under fire, but most of the time they react well. All of this is helped SO much by how they don't instantly see and recognise you, and how their only knowledge of where you are relies on where they saw you last. If there is no cover available nearby they will usually hit the floor and return fire.
Just a little fact the ballistics system is AMAZING. Using your binoculars you can look at a target and right trigger locats the range of that target as well as giving you a bearing. That range (say... 200 meters) then directly relates to the second dot down on your M21's scope meaning you align that second dot and the bullet will dip and hit them.
Didn't see much driving, the only driving I saw was a scripted truck convoy and some AAVPs(?) They moved fairly well and didn't get stuck anywhere so... overall good?
Didn't hear any crying but some AI that had been running away from another US squad behind us did a good job of shouting and waving their guns around whilst they ran away from them. Into us. Blood ensued.
Darkreaver: Yes I have arma but this copy was on 360. Game runs very smooth and is nicer than arma in terms of weapons reloading, having all those modern niceties that Arma skipped in place of core gameplay.
I'm not sure about that, there was a change in difficulty setting for ONLINE play so don't be surprised if there's effectively a "Hardcore" online mode.
Eurgh... Close combat is unfortunately still like Arma where the A.I. cna often lack any idea of what to do, especially if they don't know you're coming. On the whole it's good, but there are bad bits.
M21 is ****ing beautiful. My favourite rifle. A.I. shoot it a bit like a COD player, but when used professionally it's great. Yes I DID kill my team-mate to steal it.
Close combat is occasionally fail.
The enemy is unfortunately not as accurate as I would have hoped, but having said that you will get shot many a time by a lucky bullet. A better thing to point out is you really feel you want to limit YOUR fire at them so you don't draw attention to yourself so much as you would in COD.
Yes there is free-roam although it may be limited, I didn't push it too far. My parteners gamertag is UKS Gaurdian and mine is UKS Draugnov (Didn't play it in mine). Hunchback soldiers only go hunchback if your sprinting from crouch, so if you crouch, they will too.
No bacon, sorry.
Theres my gamertag, enjoy. Damage system is cool, taken many oneshotkills to the head (No "bleeding badly" for me). Bleeding out is cool - the colour bleeds from the screen and blurs.
Another thing about damage is I thought they had removed proper gore from the console version when some people survived pretty much unscathed from a 105mm strike (they were still dead, just not pedigree chum). Then I shot someone through the head with a SCAR-H and his skull blew out the back. ****'s so cash.
Yes it's easy to die, I'm not sure if Gaurdian's online atm. YES there is a time limit but that was only for a mission where you had to destroy a sunburst(?) missile system to prevent it from ****ing on all your ships that were coming into range.
As I said, I didn't push the boundaries too much but I don't think there is an invisible corridor, if there is, it's big.
Audio is nice, ambient sounds like birds and stuff is pretty cool, really adds atmosphere when sneaking about. Rifles and stuff going off in the distance are not ambience, that's other people fighting. Very cool.
Draw distance is stunning, most of the campaign was in a valley so saw very little, but after a big ****-off climb it was stunning. Binoculars ranged something at 1190 meters away but I think they ran out of range...
EDIT: campaign maps are big, most missions (if done correctly) take a good 30mins-hour without dying.
Attackmode: Down point so far are A.I. close combat ability, and their long range accuracy could be improved slightly. A cool point just to add is that the first PLA I encountered fired at us only on single shot. I later discovered it was because his Type-95 was a marksmans configuration weapon.
So far out of 10, 9 seems fairly accurate, depending on the online.
I haven't seen ammo as being much of a problem although whilst another friend had a go (we had like 6 of us over for the occasion) he did get the dead man's click on his SCAR when in a close combat situation. Luls ensued.
I think the reload system is fairly basic e.g. loose bullets get put into another full mag so it's only ever your last one which has fewer than full.
Draw distance looks nice, grass disappears at about 800 meters I think? But things that are concealed in the grass disappear to an extent also.
Just an added note that people might not have questioned, the combat knife works quite well, no cool animations and YES it took a lot of funerals to get close enough, but the blood was nice.
Masking - Pecisely.
Field dressings are average. You just hold the box and right trigger makes a loading bar with a plus in the middle go up. Then you're healed. Havent seen the other option thing used.
OHH LIE. I have, watched a PLA attempt to rescue a incapacitated friend with a medic thing, but I shot his freind then him with the M21
This copy was on 360 so no framerate problems.
I have FarCry2 on 360 and it's graphically very similar. They suffer a little due to how much texture there is to load they cannot be the greatest, but they are definately acceptable. Blood effects are cool, you and your team get blood or mud on your faces and hands depending on if you've got shot or just lay down for a while.
Please, newcomers to this thread read or at least scan through the previous pages before asking questions. Haven't encountered friendly A.I. running away, but that's only because I didn't **** them off further than executing the sniper in return for his M21 and MP5 .
Arma II. Hard question. I'd say arma is more about core gameplay rather than nice smooth graphics and animaitons that flashpoint has. Flashpoint loses some of the cool features of Arma II but has FAR superior animations and environments. Ambience noises and such, which all help to make the game FEEL better, even if you cant tell your A.I. to perform a backflip-axe-throwing-sommersault-ammo-gathering-vehicle-entering-manouver.
Friendlies will vault objects happily. In terms of health once you've lost blood it's lost. In one instance we got shot in the leg but were fighting too intensely to patch it up. Lost most of our blood before we did. Next time a hole was opened by a 7.62 we died almost instantly as we couldn't afford to lose any more blood.
Yeah, I have to wait till friday for my own copy also. Very realistics, but easy for newcomers to play on a mode that ISN'T HARDCORE. They need to be directed rather than learning map-reading the hard way.
In terms of playing, and this is SOLELY my opinion. I can play this game on my own, until I finish the solo campaign. Then I think I'd lose interest. I could play for ever on CO-OP as it really is a social game. Multiplayer also decides. DLC has been promised every month for a while and a small percentage will be free.
Haven't been able to fly or drive a boat, been in the back of the Navy Blackhawk things(?) but not flown or sailed. Driven an AAVP(?) and been the gunner and all sorts. The AAVP looks impressive, A commander, Gunner, Driver and then THIRTEEN passengers.
Yeah pretty much. Claymore mines and Anti-Personel mines are confirmed although I couldn't get the ****ers to go bang.
Haha, nice members count, Hey Guise . Graphics are nice, not fantastic, but the atmosphere that is generated from the time periods and lighting effects are second to none. I even saw a little patch of fog (About 10x10 meters) in the early morning, I acctually shivered as though it was cold.
On console I have so far seen NO dismemberment and am starting to think it's only on PC BUT I saw some PLA guy have his skull blown out the back (I really mean blown out, deformed and all). As previously stated, ****'s so cash
No flip up sights I'm afraid, just your standard rifle sighting.
If I have to change tactics on the fly that was usually just before getting royally ****ed by A LOT of asians. Command radial is hard to navigate to a beginnner but you start to memorise the codes for what you want and there are A LOT of options available also.
I've shot a queen bee a couple of times with a FLIR sight on it which was pretty cool. Reloading animation is well made
The forest is very well made, vision is greatly impared when walking through them especially under fire. Loads of variation of foliage - really second to none on the environments and atmosphere. Marines don't say a lot.
Only swearing I've heard was a bit fail on the cutscene intro. "Just get in there and clear them the **** out" Just sounded unneccesary and not really appropriate. Not that I'm against swearing in video-games or anything. Your marines do complain a bit when they get show however.
Recoil was nice, and there is a destinct limit on fire rate. On pistols that is annoying as it really limits their capabilities in close range, rifles could fire faster than the limit set, but still cool.
On the M21 the recoil was beautiful, there shouldn't be any worry about COD-faggots getting hold of it and machinegunning it like they do on that "well crafter game-of-the-year title" faily poop.
Eurgh, you cannot choose your kit loadout to the best of my knowledge at the start of single player campaign. Thus you only get what you're given and it's usually only one weapon, although you can carry two and a sidearm provided you don't have something like a SMAW on your back or anything.
Oh, and I fired a Stinger on a single mission I unlocked using these two codes:
OFPWEB1 and OFPWEB2
I don't know entirely how the MP works as I couldn't get into any games. BF BC graphics are completely different to this, although just as a point of interst I love Bad Company and cannot wait for 2
Those two missions. Encampment is "alright" not really that fun although that's where I shot a guys skull out so that greatly improved the enjoyment factor. It's also an opportunity to fire a stinger at a transport chopper, it dropped flares but they were no match .
The other one looks far better as there's a lot more going on, BUT I got shot very quickly so didn't play it all the way through.
Gamepay- 9
Sound- 10
Graphics- 9
Lating apeal- Lolswut?
Fatigue is cool, loads of increasingly heavy breathing then you get a heartbeat vibration in your controller. You feel real weight but not quite as well as Bad Company manages it. It's not a lightweight COD game with a 2d gun pasted onto the camera
No I didn't see the volcanoThe weapons were nice but I only got to use the: SCAR-L, SCAR-H, M16A4, Type-95, Type 95 LMG, M246, Mk.48 I think?, Queen Bee, Stinger, MEU and the CHinese pistol.
Would have liked to use the M4 because I miss the Automatic mode on the M16A4. Holosight on the CQB version of the M16 was my favourite sight.
Oh, saw a few ricochets, VERY cool VERY realistic, AI shooting at long range, watched a tracer bullet fly, dip after distance and hit the floor flat, so it bounced at about a 20 degree angle from the floor, dipped again and then stopped
I didn't see the time of day change a lot during an hour long mission, it got a little brighter as it was about 5AM I think? But apparently it's like 8x normal. I didn't get a chance to go on co-op - only one copy so I didn't see the nececity in looking...
Another cool feature, you cannot cook grenades, you pull the pn out but hold onto the handle until you throw it, then you hear the little "ding" as the handle falls off and you throw it.
Ok... VERY quickly. Yes I used artillery, destruction model on buildings is as impressive as the smoke effects are. Just not a fan of SCARs. Game runs very smooth but with a few clunky things like arma had - like getting in vehicles. Overall fantastic, well done CM.
Seeya
AusKings: Yes you can get a more powerful scope than an ACOG, no I don't think you can get attachments on the M249.
Camouflage works fairly well, it can often be difficult to see enemies especially if theyre lying down.
I played it on 360.
I played NO multiplayer.
I played NO CO-OP.
I played three and a half missions of campaign and 2 single missions.
Very nice question, I generally found that the enemy were spotted at about 400 meters, but I usually try and close the gap becuase shooting at that range eats you ammo. So fighting I generally did at about 150-300 meters.
This is a beautifully made aspect of the game, in the dark the AI find it harder to see you so yes, you can sneak up on them. You can get your team to supress them then as long as you keep their line of sight broken sneak around them. Their only idea of where you are comes from the last place they've seen you. The same info you get on your map
Letsgo2marsdude: Around 6 feet?
Sgt. : People will hate me for this, but Bad Company PURELY because of the large open spaces and long distance engagements. Although flashpoint does it beter of course.
Single missions. Dissappointed slightly. The single missions are just an option to replay the campaign missions you've already done UNLESS you unlock bonus missions with codes (e.g. OFPWEB1 and OFPWEB2) as well as the 4 bonus missions you get for pre-ordering from differnet places. Having said that I imagine single missions will feature heavily as DLC.
Finite ammo. Not sure on that, although I did see a PLA firing his pistol at me from long range, and when I examined his body he had no ammo.
Haven't really played any armoured combat no, but a AAVP (?) was prety cool. With a 7.62 SCAR-H it was usually just one shot. There is NO loadout choice. Sgt. Hunter's a little bitch so takes AGES in the shower.
The first two missions are spec ops missions based. They're cool. I saw no limb dismemberment and I hit a group of soldiers with a Queen Bee as well as several 105mm howitzers but that does not neccesarily mean there is none.
The enemy have a very realistic sight range and their vision is well impared by smoke and darkenss.
