Hello SnowRunners!
We have an exciting community update to share with you today! First off, we'd like to confirm that the Season 2 Update is coming in November, for all platforms. This is the largest update we've released for SnowRunner so far.
Season 2 Content
Season Pass owners will get two large maps in the Yukon, Canada region. This fresh new land will task you with a single overarching goal: to construct a huge three-part processing plant. Which order you do these missions in is up to you. You have the choice of deconstructing buildings for materials, as well as finding them in the wild and hauling them back.
Since we're seeing a lot of speculation, we'd also like to mention that although mods on consoles will not be coming in the next update, we still consider them part of Phase 2. We are making good progress at the moment, testing existing mods and preparing them for consoles. Please keep in mind that only selected mods will be on console. We'll release more information on how to make your mod eligible for consideration on console later.
With this update we're introducing changes to our mod packaging system that prepares for mods on consoles. Therefore, mods that haven’t been repackaged using the Patch 10 mod editor and reuploaded on mod.io, will not work. So if you're eager to be prepared for when Patch 10 goes live, you can prepare your mods ahead of time using the PTS mod editor, but not apply the changes on mod.io until patch 10 goes live.
Three new vehicles
Season two also brings three brand new vehicles. The 770G and TH357 are from Caterpillar and are very different in size and capabilities. The 770G is the largest truck the franchise has ever seen, while the TH357 is a nimble scout equipped with a forklift.
Finally, the KRS 58 Bandit is a sturdy Russian 8x8 rescue vehicle adapted for the most inhospitable terrain. An interesting side-note: this vehicle was actually chosen by our early Beta testers back in March of 2019!
Free content
Base game players will also see a bunch of new content in this update. Customization will be expanded with additional stickers and exterior decals. Prepare for new Trial maps to test your skills to the limit, and revisit Taymyr and Alaska for new missions. Additionally, we're adding new add-ons and Xtrme Cargo, as well as much-requested features such as the ability to properly secure vehicles to trailers.
Modding reward changes
With last month's mod rewards, it became clear from your feedback that we overcorrected by only allowing unique models to be eligible. However, we feel like modders who go the extra mile by creating their own models should also be awarded. That's why we're including mods with unique and publicly available models as separate categories.
We believe this is the fairest possible solution that celebrates both the approachability, quick development, and variety of mods, as well as the skill and time-commitment of creating your own models from scratch. Our hope is that these will be the rules that we keep for months to come.
Here are categories in their entirety. These will be applied to the October winners:
Top Mod Creator:
Rising Star Award:
- 1x Unique Model Vehicle
- 1x Public Model Vehicle
- 3x Maps
Community Treasure Hunt!
- 3x Unique Model Vehicle
- 3x Public Model Vehicle
- 3x Maps
Back in March last year, we also held an ARG (Augmented Reality Game) using clues from several of our trailers. As a way of congratulating the players quickest to complete the puzzle, we have now had their names immortalized in SnowRunner!
Aspen Cooper and Samasaurus Rex, two of our winners.
13 of these tags are hidden across SnowRunner's base game maps, on rocks, trees, etc. It's up to you to find them all. But here's where it gets interesting! The first person to find all 13 tags will receive a free key for SnowRunner Premium Edition! There is no deadline.
How to win:
Email us at [email protected] using the subject line "SnowRunner Treasure Hunt" with screenshots of all 13 tags (all at once please, not after each tag you find)![]()
Here are the number of tags to find on each map:
We can't wait to see who will be the first to find them all!
- 3 in Black River
- 2 in Smithville Dam
- 1 in Island Lake
- 2 in Drummond Island
- 2 in North Port
- 1 in Mountain River
- 1 in White Valley
- 1 in Pedro Bay
That's it for this month's community update. Thank you all so much for your continued support and feedback. We're thrilled to have so much in store for you all in SnowRunner.
See you in the snow,
The Saber and Focus Home, and mod.io teams
