The campaign mode obviously has scenario written by Mr. Sunao Katabuchi. Gathering points to increase your battle potential little by little is fun. Having scenes that make series fans grinning is also good. Tactics against enemy aircraft become even more climactic with the additions of natural phenomenon like icing, lightning, and turbulence. The strategy elements get added; for example, when you are being chased by a missile, you can deliberately run away into clouds with poor visibility. The aircraft, which have been reproduced to the most detailed parts, are excellently well done!

The sense of presence of the sky has tremendously raised with the existence of clouds. They are not just drifting there as a presentation; you can go inside them to scatter your pursuers, so they become a feature that also gives influences to tactics, which is also good. It doesn't mean the play feel has largely changed, but this is being done so that you can feel it's a legitimate evolution of the series. The PS4 version's VR mode further heightens the feeling [of becoming a] pilot, and it's convenient to track enemy aircraft movements by moving your head; it's so well-done that I hope it gets implemented to the whole game.

The fun of dogfighting that makes your hands sweating is just as expected. When you go inside the clouds, the vision gets shrouded with icing. You can also feel the rumble of the turbulence. Being able to intuitively relish the above weather influences makes you feel the evolution of the series. The clouds become a hiding place, and they can produce tactics against enemies which is also good. You will also get pulled into the war story which is depicted from not only the protagonist but also the perspectives of other people. In the VR mode, I felt the G every time I turn around and pull up.

Each part of the graphical presentation has improved with displaying the more three-dimensionally drawn clouds among others. Furthermore, when you enter the clouds you will see droplets on the canopy and there is also icing; the realistic depiction of natural phenomenon makes you feel the sense of presence even more than before. While I don't see that much change in game[play] elements, as a legitimate evolution from the prequel, this has a brilliant degree of perfection. One of its appeals is that the threshold is low and you can easily relish the feeling [of becoming a] pilot. It's filled with exhilaration and both offense and defense feel pleasant.
