Panther VR bekommt voll VR interaktives Physik System!

One of the major things we are focusing on is the physics systems. A good physics system is an important tool to make a believable and highly interactable VR environment. Panther VR will be a stealth-action game, but will also be a Sandbox game. A game where you can do it your way. A game in which you can play with physics. We take great pleasure and example in games like Blade and Sorcery and Boneworks, which make great use of their physics system. That is why we decided to shift our focus to a full VR interactive physics system.

We started out with an animation based system, which you can see in our Kickstarter Demo. Guards will move around and interact only through animation. This means, for example, that when they stumble back and hit a wall, the animation of the backwords stumble will continue. Guards kept working on an animation system until they died. From that moment on, they turn into a "Ragdoll" (Physics-based, but lifeless character).

While this system works great and is mainly used in most games, it seems to lack a certain level of interaction and immersion. We wanted it to be more than just animations. That is why we build a Physics system for our characters. Instead of only relying on animations, the guards and swat will now use a system based on animations and physics. This means that they will now interact with the world and the player during an animation, making each interaction unique. It's a system you might have seen before in games like Red Dead Redemption, GTA V, and more relevant: Blade and Sorcery and Boneworks.
