Josh Brolin Takes Old Boy
Josh Brolin has been cast in the upcoming remake of Park Chan-wook's Old Boy, Deadline reports.
Brolin, who next appears on the big screen in Men in Black III, will play the part of Joe (Dae-su Oh in the original), a man who, on the day his daughter is born, is captured and imprisoned in a hotel room for over two decades (15 years in the original) with no understanding as to why. When he is suddenly released, he's told that he has just four days to determine the reason for his imprisonment and, if he cannot, his daughter will be killed.
Originally a late '90's manga series by Garon Tsuchiya and Nobuaki Minegishi, the American version will apparently, as in that series, go by that two word title rather that the single world Oldboy that Chan-wook's version used.
Spike Lee is set to direct the film with a script from Mark Protosevich and is eyeing an early 2012 production start.

Old Boy Targets Sharlto Copley for Villain Role
Spike Lee's Old Boy may have lined up its villain. Variety reports that Sharlto Copley has been offered the part and is likely to star opposite Josh Brolin and Elizabeth Olsen.

Copley, best known for his starring role in District 9, also appeared in The A-Team and will soon appear in the upcoming sci-fi projects The Europa Report and Elysium (the latter re-teaming him with director Neill Blomkamp).

Trotzdem ein schlechtes Beispiel, denn Departed war ein brillianter Film.
