CD Projekt RED has finally detailed some of the changes that players can expect to see in the
Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.2 update, which should be with us pretty soon.
The version update 1.2 patch for Cyberpunk 2077 was originally due to be released in February, but
CD Projekt RED was forced to delay the update to March in the wake of a devastating cyber attack on the company, its servers and its technology. While this latest update doesn't have any news on when to expect the patch, it does seem to be imminent, as there's no word of a further delay and the latest post on the official Cyberpunk 2077 website highlights a few of the features players can expect to see in the updated version of the game.
Updates for Cyberpunk are hotly anticiapted, of course, after the game launched with an enormous laundry list of problems and issues, especially on the PS4 and Xbox One generation hardware. Here's the highlights from Patch 1.2 as detailed by CD Projekt RED so far, though it's likely the patch will contain other changes and fixes:
- Police Spawning / Response adjusted: after coming into much criticism (and quite a few memes), the police response has been adjusted so that police don't basically spawn right on top of wanted players.
- Adjustments to driving, and a new steering sensitivity option: players can now go into the menu and adjust exactly how twitchy the steering of vehicles is. Elsewhere, changes have been made to ensure steering feels consistent even on machines with lower frame rates, resulting in a consistent steering speed "from 20 to 60+ FPS".
- A new feature to 'Unstick' vehicles that get marooned: if you end up in a situation where your vehicle is trapped and you're spinning wheels accelerating or reversing but not actually moving, you can now rock and rotate the vehicle so that you can get a wheel down in order to get moving again.
- Dodging controls have been changed, with a new control option: some players found that the default to dodge by double tapping in a movement direction meant often accidentally triggering the dodge movement on PC. There's now an option to turn this off, and instead trigger dodge by double-tapping crouch. There's also general improvements to key rebinding for movement options.
