ProMods war immer geil, besonders als sie die polnische Erweiterung auch weiter eingearbeitet haben, als die aufhörten. Zusammen mit der RusMap hat man eine richtig, richtig große Karte. Bin ich gerne gefahren.

Italia: Architecture

It's always an interesting experience for our map designers to research new parts of the game world, and then see them come to life through production. We are collecting a lot of knowledge of the European countries that we would otherwise visit only as tourists. We are joking among ourselves that once the work on a new map region is completed, we know more about the country than many people born there.





Road network, nature, and typical local architecture are the bread and butter of each map. They determine the look of surroundings you find in our games. These include buildings, shops, industries, all unique road junctions or highway intersections, together with architectural landmarks. Our development team has spent a huge amount of time on research and data processing, and we hope that you will find the results worth the effort and time invested.

New Scania S and R: Approaching the Finish Line

Today we'd like to give you an update on another of our projects: the next generation Scania S and R trucks. Our vehicle designers are nearly done with modeling the last details on these two magnificent vehicles. Our rendition of Scania S is already in the internal testing stage and the work on R is quite close to being completed, too. We are now working on adjusting the tuning parts and elements from the various ETS2 content DLCs to make them compatible with the new trucks. Before we'll let the S and R beasts leave our labs, we need to make all the pieces like the additional parts, paint jobs, interior options and toys all working well together when combined.

We thought that you may appreciate some fresh screenshots and info. So here it comes.




As you can see, there are several options coming with both of these new Scanias. We have several stock interiors, including the brand new style for illuminated elements and also the powerful V8 version! We'll have the standard and also the longer version of 6x4 chassis, plus many editable parts from the wheel to the roof of the truck are on the list too. Everyone will be able to tune the Scania S or R according to his/her taste.




We'd like to thank you for your patience and interest in those upcoming trucks. We hear and read all your messages and questions. While we're not sure about the exact date of release, we can confirm that their release won't be connected to any other DLC release. They should appear in the game as a free update immediately after we finish testing and polishing them, and obtain the final approval from the manufacturer.



It's really busy time for us right now, but we're pretty sure that the final quarter of this year will be absolutely fabulous. We have plenty of really cool features and content coming up for both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator, and we can't wait to see and read your reactions to them! This post is quite special for us. It's the first post written from our new office - the new place from where our company will work, from where our teams of designers will create new content for our games, our programmers will code and bring new features to life, from where anything related to SCS Software will happen.



While we were very happy at our previous office in the center of Prague, it wouldn't work for us anymore. It has become urgent for us already to move on, to be able to keep on growing our current team so that we can increase the pace of progress on our games.









Moving a company is no easy task, but we managed it over the weekend, and the design and programming teams are already back at work as of Monday afternoon."

Am Anfang des Spieles erstellst du ein neues Profil, wählst deine Steuerung und wählst den Firmensitz deiner zukünftigen Firma irgendwo in Europa aus.
Einen LKW hast du anfangs nicht, denn zuerst mußt du etwas Geld verdienen.

Danach folgt das erstes optionale Tutorial und du absolvierst deine erste Lieferung, keine Angst, das dauert nicht lange und ist in derselben Stadt.
Dort angekommen kannst du dich entscheiden wie du die Ware ablieferst, automatisch, vorwärts einparken oder rückwärts einparken.

Danach kannst du erstmal nur schnelle Aufträge erledigen.
Das heißt du suchst dir eine Fracht samt gestellten LKW aus, die dir gefällt.
Du kannst nach Entfernung, Abfahrts- und Zielorten, Bezahlung, Restzeit und verschiedenen Kunden sortieren.

Während der Auslieferung mußt du dich natürlich an die Verkehrsordnung halten, keine Unfälle bauen, eventuell mal auftanken und natürlich mal rasten, damit die Lenkzeiten nicht überschritten werden.

Je größer die Entfernung, umso knapper die Zeit , umso teurer die Fracht, umso weniger Schäden, desto höher ist dein Gewinn und deine Erfahrung.

Durch Erfahrung steigst du auf, bekommst Erfahrungspunkte und kannst diese einsetzen um Gefahrgutaufträge zu bekommen, längere Fernfahrten, teurere Frachten, mehr Terminfracht oder geringeren Verbrauch.

Und je höher dein Level ist, umso mehr Sachen schaltest du für die LKW frei.

Relativ schnell bekommst du von der Bank Kredite angeboten und wenn du genug Geld durch schnelle Aufträge angespart hast, wird es Zeit für deinen ersten LKW.

Durch die schnellen Aufträge hast du schon verschiedene LKW kennengelernt und LKW-Händler auf der KArte entdeckt und entscheidest dich schließlich für einen.
Keine Angst, auch einen Standard-LKW kannst du nachträglich mit stärkeren Motoren, besseren Getrieben, mehr Achsen, Allrad etc nachrüsten.

Nach und nach wirst du genug Geld haben um neue LKW zu kaufen und eigene Fahrer einzustellen.
Auf der Karte gibt es nicht nur LKW-Händler zu entdecken, sondern auch Arbeitsagenturen.
Je mehr Arbeitsagenturen du endeckt hast, umso größer ist die Auswahl an Arbeitskräften.

Je nach Erfahrung kosten die unterschiedlich an Lohn und du kannst auch bestimmen, wie die eingesetzt werden.
Gefahrgut, Fernfahrten etc oder alles gemischt.

Die Aufträge suchen die sich dann aber automatisch aus und fahren vom Firmensitz zum Auslieferungsort, suchen sich dort nach Möglichkeit einen Auftrag zurück und falls sich nichts findet, auch schon mal leer zurück.

Du kannst deinen Firmensitz vergrößern oder neue Filialen in anderen Städten gründen, LKW und Fahrer tauschen, ganz wie es dir beliebt.

Das Spiel hat auch ein eingebautes Internetradio, dessen Senderliste du auch anpassen kannst.
Überraschenderweise ist das Spiel sehr entspannend.

Am besten spielt sich das natürlich mit einem Lenkrad, aber auch Gamepads funktionieren sehr gut und selbst mit der Tastatur ist das noch gut spielbar.

Das Spiel ist außerdem recht hardwarefreundlich:

Das Spiel gibt es immer wieder günstig in irgendwelchen Bundles und bei jedem Steam-Sale.

Das Basisspiel bekommst du bei Key-Händlern schon unter 10 Euro, falls du nicht solange warten willst.

Empfehlenswerte Erweiterungen sind:

- Vive la France !
Macht die Frankreichkarte komplett.

- Scandinavia
Norwegen, Dänemark und Schweden.
Nur hier kann man bisher die neuen Gigaliner fahren.

- Going East!
Erweitert Osteuropa um mehr Städte.

- Heavy Cargo Pack
Schwertransporte bis rauf zur 60 Tonnen Diesellok.
Spart aber erst auf einen passenden LKW.

- High Power Cargo Pack
Segeljacht, Hubschrauber etc.

Italia: Ring Roads


The choices that we have to make about the road network in our games are always difficult. With the scale of our virtual world being about 1:20 to reality, we have to be very selective about picking particular highways, cities, and parts of cities that should represent any given area.



We are always trying to pick locations that are characteristic for the regions and cities, but there is no way that we could squeeze in the whole pattern of a city's roads into the game map. In some cases, we manage to venture close to the city center with a major road artery. In most cases though, we have to pick a part of a ring road (beltway, beltline, loop) encircling the city, and a few important connecting roads there. The city skyline is only there on the horizon, but we still manage to identify and recreate a bunch of interesting landmarks up close for the players to drive by and recognize, aiming for the "Aha! I know this place!" moment.



All of the above, of course, also applies to the creation of our latest map expansion for Euro Truck Simulator 2: Italia. Our functional road network will serve us nicely there to connect industrial zones on the city ring roads, with many touches of reality, recognizable vantage points, and ambitious highway interchanges/junctions.


 
Italia: New Industries

Industries are the backbone of the economy and the main engine of transport business in our simulators because cargo transportation is the most important basic task we put on our players. Local industries and their demands in our games must at least partially reflect the real industry in a given country. Some of the cargoes you will be transporting include, for example, typical Italian scooters.




Carrara marble quarries are one of the largest and yet carefully constructed industries that you can find on the new map of Italy. Marble from these mines belongs to appreciated materials for buildings, monuments, and sculptures since ancient times. We hope you will enjoy plenty of turning bends on their dusty gravel roads.




Steel plant at Taranto is another of the industrial structures built directly for Italia; the largest steelworks in Europe. This giant is one of those industrial stops that you will not forget easily. It's simply huge.




We are confident that you will fall in love with the new map and its unique feel, and transportation of new cargoes will be fun and challenging to your driving skills.

Italia: Core map enhancements




As we were working on our Italia map expansion DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2 (please consider pressing the Follow button on the Steam page!), we also reserved some time for retouching the bit of northern Italy that is already included in the core of the game's world. As a result, there is going to be a very visible change for you in the upcoming game version update, whether you hurry to get the DLC to enjoy driving all the way to the south of Italy or not.





Euro Truck Simulator 2 already contains several cities and quite a stretch of road in Po Valley. We have added considerable improvements to the whole region, but we went even further with Milano. The city was completely rebuilt from scratch.

BIG Announcement


Today, we'd like to provide you with a quite detailed look at a project that has been underway for well over a year - our upcoming Special Transport DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2.

We have hinted at its existence in last year's New Year Wishes video, at that point we actually thought that we would be ready to release it in only a few months. Obviously, the project needed more time to mature. So we kept on working; you may have noticed that a few months ago a screenshot was revealed in a report from Gamescom 2017 private presentation. Recently several curious visitors were allowed to try it at Warsaw Games Week 2017 and then we've allowed local TV to come to try and record it as a little teaser.

Ultimately, a cross-disciplinary team has poured an incredible amount of time into this project, and today we are finally revealing it in full glory.

But first, a photo...



Some time ago, a couple of our colleagues were invited to become a part of a convoy for oversized transport of a huge metal tank to the city of Mělník, Czech Republic. This rare two-day experience had one goal - to gather as much data and info as possible about the whole transport and how things like this are done. Why? Because we know that our community is obsessed with realism and authenticity, you guys are always pushing us to make things more real, and want to avoid making naive mistakes. A lot our fans are very vocal about getting something new and more challenging to test your skills. We felt that it's time to try and satisfy some of this hunger!







A lot of time has passed, and now as you can see in the video below, we are testing one of these Special Transport jobs on our motion seat in the office. What's going on there? It's quite big, right? And what are those cars with flashing beacons? Are they perhaps escort vehicles?

Yes, they are. Yes, the cargo is big, it's huge. And yes, the escort vehicles can affect the traffic. There will be two of these, one escorting the player in front of him/her and one in the back. Their purpose is clear, to assist the driver to get the cargo from the start to the finish line of each special transport job. But that's not all.


Let's review what this DLC is all about:
  • 11 New Special Cargoes (up to 70 tons, 6 m width, 5+ m height and 20+ m length)
  • 4 New Trailers
  • 17 Unique Routes with the Special Transport Jobs (12 Base Map, 2 Scandinavia, 2 Going East!, 1 Vive la France !). This list will grow over time.
  • A combination of over 80 Special Transport Jobs
  • Escort Vehicles with a custom AI like clearing the path, stopping traffic, giving advice, pushing opposing vehicles to the side etc.
  • Special intros and cutscenes related to the cargoes, missions or places along the routes
  • New Models, characters, and animations of people around the scene
  • Pedestrians, journalists or transport co-workers along the routes recognizing day, night or bad weather
  • Possibility to Fail the "Mission" if you do not adhere to strict regulations
  • New Checkpoints System to keep your progress in a special transport job safe
  • New Warning Beacons Animations
  • New Achievements
  • Higher XP and Money Profit for successful completion of this type of jobs


There is more, but we think that's enough for now. Better do some preparing, because this is going to be the biggest challenge for you and your mighty diesel beast so far!

We are not yet ready to promise a particular release date, but the wait should not be too long anymore. We are super busy finalizing, bug-testing, and releasing a lot of stuff that we want to get into your hands before the end of the year, but we hope that you will have a chance to deliver Special Cargo in Euro Truck Simulator 2 still this side of Christmas.
