Sony chairman Kazuo “Kaz” Hirai has announced his retirement, drawing a 35-year career with the company to a close. Hirai stepped down as CEO a little over a year ago, passing the role to Kenichiro Yoshida, the CFO with whom he orchestrated Sony’s turnaround from a money-losing gadget maker to a profitable company focused on components and the PlayStation business.

Hirai will leave his chairman role on June 18th, but will continue to act as occasional “senior advisor” for the company upon the request of Sony’s management team. “Hirai-san and I have been working on management reforms together since December 2013,” says Yoshida in a statement. “While he will be retiring from both Chairman and our Board of Directors, we look forward to his continuing high-level support to Sony’s management that encompasses a breadth of diverse businesses.”

aber das wäre imo perfekt. eine axt als ersatz für den speer und die assassinen klinge, templer als missionare, ein langschiff als zentrales reisemittel wie in odyssey, beutezüge/raids als neue missionsarten, dänemark, norwegen und england als schauplätze, rus und frankia als dlc schauplatz usw.

So there's an AC related easter egg in the Division 2 that hints at a Viking setting, seen in the video above there's a poster featuring a norse god holding an apple of eden. Ubi has a history of hinting at future games with easter eggs.

If we're to assume that the next AC game is an evolution of the concepts/core gameplay introduced in the last 2 AC games instead of the next overhaul, then a Viking setting makes sense.

So does this mean that the next Assassin’s Creed, confirmed by Ubisoft to be skipping 2019 and going straight to 2020 (just in time for the expected release of next-gen consoles), is all about Vikings? Well, yes. Yes it does. A few months before this teaser emerged, Kotaku learned from two independent sources familiar with the game that 2020's Assassin’s Creed, code-named Kingdom, does indeed star Vikings. We don’t know much else about the game, but after the phenomenal Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, we’re stoked to see what’s coming.

Ubisoft declined to comment.

This teaser is a strange one. Ubisoft has a long history of sticking teases for future games in its current ones, most infamously with Pioneer, a project that was shown off in a Watch Dogs 2 mission before it was canceled and then brought back to life in a different form. A new patch for Watch Dogs 2 also dropped a major clue for Watch Dogs 3, telling the world that it would be set in London (which it is).
