MOVIE The Handmaiden (Park Chan-wook)

Korea in den 1930er Jahren, während der Besatzung durch die japanischen Invasoren: Die junge Sookee (Kim Tae-Ri) ist eine gerissene Taschendiebin, die sich von der reichen japanischen Erbin Hideko (Kim Min-Hee) als Dienstmädchen einstellen lässt. So zieht Sookee auf das abgelegene Anwesen, auf dem Hideko mit ihrem Onkel Kouzuki (Jin-Woong Cho) lebt und das sie seit ihrer Kindheit nicht mehr verlassen hat. Was Hideko allerdings nicht weiß: Sookees Anstellung als Dienerin ist Teil eines perfiden Plans, den sie zusammen mit einem Schwindler (Jung-Woo Ha), der sich als Graf Fujiwara ausgibt, ausgeheckt hat und der vorsieht, dass sie Hideko und ihren Onkel um ihr Vermögen erleichtern. Und zunächst läuft alles wie am Schnürchen – bis ganz unerwartet Sookee und Hideko tiefe Gefühle füreinander entwickeln…
