Inazuma Eleven Ares changes name, is pushed back to Spring 2020 and has essentially been rebooted [ResetEra]

"In a nutshell:

- The game is now no longer called Inazuma Eleven Ares but Inazuma Eleven: Eiyuu-tachi no Great Road, which can be translated into Inazuma Eleven: The Road of Heroes.

- Up until last time, the game was partly outsourced by several studios since it's a higher quality production than usual. This is what caused all those development issues, and the game is now entirely back into the hands of Level-5.

- A lot has changed and it's sort of a soft reboot for the game. The battle system looks closer to previous games and the focus for the development ongoing is to make battles more exciting through the addition of new mechanics. Hino mentions in particular to improve the RPG system.

- The plot is still based on Inazuma Eleven Ares but it'll also includes an additional episode where older characters will reappear.

- The gameplay has more of a strategy/hack'n'slash focus than how it looked before. It'll be possible to collect players as usual, but Hino says the game will be tailored for eSports as well. It looks a LOT closer to how the series has been prior to Ares, rather than how it looked when the game was announced.

- One of the focus is a deep online mode with tournaments that can be played nationally.

- As such, the game has been pushed back to a Spring 2020 release.

- Hino is aware that with this delay he's betraying again the expectations of fans, but he believes it's the right direction to make a quality game."

- Level-5 has released an Inazuma Eleven: Great Road of Heroes development update video featuring company CEO Level-5, who shows off the latest footage of the game running on Switch.
- Hino apologized for the game’s long, ongoing development, but said that he wants to reward fans with a perfect game. Currently, it is moving forward with plans for release in 2023 in Japan.
- The game is being developed as a “culmination” of the Inazuma Eleven series, with the idea of making it the series’ defining entry.
- Inazuma Eleven: Great Road of Heroes will be available for PlayStation 4, Switch, iOS, and Android.
- According to Hino, the final version of the game will be incomparable to the work-in-progress footage.
