‘Babylon 5’ Reboot in the Works at The CW - Original series creator J. Michael Straczynski will pen the script for the update.

The CW is heading to space.

The younger-skewing broadcaster is teaming with original series creator J. Michael Straczynski for a reboot of Babylon 5.

Described as a “from-the-ground-up reboot” of the original, Straczynski will pen the script for a new potential version of the former syndicated drama from Warner Bros. TV. The new take revolves around John Sheridan (originally played by Bruce Boxleitner), an Earthforce officer with a mysterious background, who is assigned to Babylon 5, a five-mile-long space station in neutral space, a port of call for travelers, smugglers, corporate explorers and alien diplomats at a time of uneasy peace and the constant threat of war. His arrival triggers a destiny beyond anything he could have imagined, as an exploratory Earth company accidentally triggers a conflict with a civilization a million years ahead of us, putting Sheridan and the rest of the B5 crew in the line of fire as the last, best hope for the survival of the human race.

Ich bin ja damals wegen des zu deutlichen CGI nie richtig in die Serie reingekommen. :tip:

Ich bin tatsächlich auch erst vor ein paar Jahren auf Babylon 5 gekommen, war damals völlig an mir vorbeigegangen.
Und gerade weil die Eindrücke noch recht frisch sind, sehe ich ein Reboot auch eher skeptisch. Alles was man kennt, ist immer schwierig nochmal anders zu mögen. Dass Straczynski mitmacht, sind aber immerhin keine so schlechten Voraussetzungen.
 
Uff. Die Effekte waren schon damals schlecht. Wurden dann zwar später besser, aber nein, das wars nie was B5 ausgemacht hat. Eher das Inhaltliche. Aber das war halt damals. Heute würde das niemanden mehr hinterm Ofen hervor locken. Aber eine durchgehende Story war damals schon außergewöhnlich.

A "Babylon 5" animated movie is in the works from original series creator J. Michael Straczynski.

"BABYLON 5 ANIMATED MOVIE [sic] coming from Warner Bros. Animation & WB Home Entertainment!" Straczynski announced via Twitter. "Classic B5: raucous, heartfelt, nonstop, a ton of fun through time and space & a love letter to the fans. Movie title, release date and other details coming one week from today."

The original "Babylon 5" was produced by Warner Bros. Television. The series ran in syndication and on TNT for five seasons, 110 episodes, and seven TV movies, including the 1993 pilot film. The show is considered one of the best sci-fi series ever made by many critics and won numerous awards throughout its run, including two Hugo Awards and a Saturn Award.

The show took place on the titular Babylon 5, a five-mile-long space station in neutral space, a port of call for travelers, smugglers, corporate explorers and alien diplomats at a time of uneasy peace and the constant threat of war.
