Telltale Games, which shut down last year, is coming back after its assets were purchased by a company called LCG Entertainment. The new company will sell some of Telltale’s back catalog and will work on new games based on a few Telltale-associated properties, as well as new licenses.
The new Telltale is headed up by Jamie Ottilie and Brian Waddle. Ottilie said that some workers from the original Telltale Games will be offered freelance roles, with full-time positions possible in the future.
Ottilie has spent much of his career in mobile games, most recently as founder and CEO of Galaxy Pest Control, which is best known for licensed games based on Duck Dynasty and Power Rangers. Waddle’s previous experience includes running sales and marketing for the Havok game engine.
In an interview with Polygon, Ottilie confirmed that the new business has back-catalog rights to licensed properties The Wolf Among Us and Batman as well as full rights to original Telltale games such as Puzzle Agent. “There are some other expired licenses that we’re looking at,” he said.
Ottilie said it’s possible the new Telltale will pick up some stories where they left off. “We’re still evaluating, but we definitely want to continue some of the stories,” he said. But it looks like The Walking Dead won’t be coming back. That license is now owned by Skybound, which has its own plans for game releases.

"We need to grow this company slowly and carefully," Ottilie said. "We want to build a healthy work culture, a non-crunch culture. We'll be staffing up slowly. We'd love to bring back every Telltale employee that wants to come back but that's not the economic reality of the game industry today and that would be irresponsible."
"We've gotta stabilize the catalog and shore up the development pipeline," Ottilie said. We're working with a group of artists, engineers, and QA folks that are former Telltale. They're being fairly compensated for every hour that they're with us.
“Many of the licensors elected to bring our IP back in house while they waited to see what happened with Telltale and the assets,” Ottilie said. “We've picked up specifically… the Batman games, Vertigo and Fables/Wolf Among Us, Puzzle Agent One and Two.”
"Licensing was the most complex part of the deal," Ottilie explained. "It took six months of heavy lifting to go from the offer to closing the deal and securing the assets. Much of that was about securing the licenses and IP. There were all sorts of pitfalls along the way. It was a difficult process in terms of securing the rights. We were careful and stayed away from the IPs that the companies wanted back."
https://gamedaily.biz/article/1178/telltale-games-20-is-committed-to-a-healthy-non-crunch-cultureWe don’t expect it will be long before we hear about the new Telltale game, which is likely to be on new technology (as Ottilie explained in our earlier story). During the fireside chat, he said that news will be coming in the next few weeks about Telltale Games’ next project.

European president Masami Saso told GI.biz that while the company has nothing to announce on the likes of Metal Gear or Silent Hill, it sees the console space as important and is currently working on unannounced projects based on “globally known” IP.
“Even with new platforms coming out, we believe high-end console games are the most important,” Saso said.
“We challenge for innovative ideas and technology within our console games and apply them to other devices, so we will continue to put effort into our console games.”
He added: “We also plan to increase our portfolio. In addition to the multi-device titles for PES and Yu-Gi-Oh, we plan to work on projects with other globally known IPs in the near future.”
Hideaki Itsuno (DMCV) nächstes Projekt könnte sehr wahrscheinlich Dragon's Dogma 2 sein

It invites the idea that maybe the only person truly fit to make a game directly inspired by Dragon’s Dogma is Itsuno. I can’t resist, and ask him - now that DMC5 is out the door, with no DLC planned - if we could see a sequel, or even if he’s working on it right now. The answer is non-committal, but certainly not negative: “We consider Dragon's Dogma to be an important franchise... But there's nothing more I can say right now.”
On the one hand, it saddens me that other developers haven’t outwardly tried to adapt Itsuno’s ideas in newer, smoother contexts. But on the other perhaps it means that, one day - when Itsuno does, finally, get a chance to make Dragon’s Dogma 2 - all of this will feel just as special as it did in 2012.
