MOVIE Star Wars Episode 1 + 2: 160 Minuten-Review

Weil gerade im "Jetzt im TV"-Thread Episode 2 angesprochen wurde: hier DIE ultimativen Reviews zu Episode 1 und 2. Ersters kommt noch mit 70 Minuten hin, bei Episode 2 sind es schon 90 Minuten.

Der Sprecher hat eine stark gewöhnungsbedürftige Stimme. Was daran liegt, dass er nebenbei noch in die Rolle eines wahnsinnigen Frauenmörder schlüpft. Wenn man sich daran aber erstmal gewöhnt hat, kriegt man zwei der besten Reviews überhaupt zu sehen, wo minutiös aufgelistet wird, was George Lucas alles falsch gemacht hat. Wirklich sehenswert.

Let me say right off the bat that I understand 70 minutes is a long time. In fact, it is half the run-time of the film itself. I felt the same way when a friend first sent it to me, but, trust me, it is well worth it.

Posted by YouTube user RedLetterMedia this is an hour and ten minute reflection and review of the epic shit storm that was Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. But, trust me, it is unlike any review you have ever seen. Narrated by a man who sounds strangely similar to Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs, the first line of the seven part series is "Star Wars The Phantom Menace was more disappointing than my son," and it only gets stranger from there. Breaking down the film scene by scene, exploring Qui-Gon Jinn's secret drinking problem, the complete and utter uselessness of battle droids and the fact that kids ruin everything, there is not a line or continuity error that sneaks by him. It should also be mentioned that the narrator is a complete fucking lunatic who is keeping a female prisoner in his basement and kills prostitutes with Raid, but that is really just a side plot.

Carve out some time in your busy day and be sure to watch it all the way through. It even gets a bit deep by the end. Did I mention that it's Simon Pegg-Approved? Check it out below.

Late last year, a video review of the film Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace was posted on YouTube by a user named RedLetterMedia. This was no ordinary review. Rather it was an 80-minute assault that analyzed both the film itself and the process that went into making it, largely criticizing the people around George Lucas who were unwilling to say anything that could be labeled as contrary to the director's vision. It wasn't the long-form criticism that made it unique, though. It was the fact that it was written and narrated by a psychotic serial killer who kept a woman chained up in his basement and had a strange affliction for pizza rolls. Now he's back for more.

That's right: RedLetterMedia is back with his review of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of The Clones. The bad news is that it's not here in its entirety just yet. Parts one through three of what will be a series of nine videos have been posted so far today, all going over 10 minutes. I'm sure that many of you will be waiting until the entire series is posted to start watching, but you can be assured that we will add the videos to this post as the user does. Chances are you probably didn’t like Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. You might be a Star Wars fan, or at least a fan of the original trilogy. After waiting in line for hours, days, weeks, you may have even written a mini 200-400 word review on an internet message board somewhere. If you were a working movie critic, you might have even written a 1,000-2,000 word review of the film for some newspaper or magazine. All of this exists in the realm of possibility…but what about a 70-minute video review?

Some guy named Mike from Milwaukee, WI put together a 70-minute video review discussing the many reasons why the movie was horrible. And this isn’t your usual fanboy rant, this is an epic, well-edited well-constructed piece of geek film criticism. In fact, the way I learned about the video was from Lost co-creator and Star Trek producer Damon Lindelof, who said “Your life is about to change. This is astounding film making. Watch ALL of it.”

You probably don't think there's any way you'd ever watch a 70-minute-long YouTube dismantling of the first horrible Star Wars prequel. And you'd be wrong, because this is one of the best things ever.

Seriously, just start watching the first one if you don't believe me. And really, are you going to argue with Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof, who discovered this and said "Your life is about to change. This is astounding film making. Watch ALL of it."? I didn't think so
